2️⃣This is apparently an attempt to cleanroom, not a decompilation; which changes the copyright analysis a lot. 3️⃣"I told the AI to cleanroom" is not a cleanroom, but that's a niche post I probably have to write myself.
"Because fair use is the right to get sued" is an amazing summary of the doctrine. 😂
So couple things: 1️⃣ yes, I know about Google-Oracle. Decompilation and porting to a new language Because I Can is not what Google-Oracle was about. Also it probably cost Google an appreciable fraction of a billion dollars to defend that case, because fair use is the right to get sued.
Vote early, or by mail. Trump will cheat, and he's not going to let illegality get in the way of self-preservation. People need to stop assuming there are limits and start assuming he's going to do increasingly desperate things to avoid losing power.
Breaking: Man Posing As ICE Agent Arrested Outside Polling Site. Deploying ICE to a polling place is illegal. However, trusting convicted felon Donald Trump to obey the law is a fool’s errand.
No surprises here. Grifters gonna grift, and payers gonna play.

Every Ellison-owned series for the next decade is just gonna be a guy fucking a flag each episode, sometimes in front of another flag, sometimes in front of stock footage of an American Eagle, while Kid Rock plays in the background. The only dialogue in between grunting will be the 14 words.

I have a suspicion that Trump might position ICE goons and other sympathetic folks with guns at polling day locations. There are roughly 22k ICE agents he could mobilize. A lot of people think this is impossible because there are over 95,815 (probably less now) polling places.
So ran the EAVS (www.eac.gov/sites/defaul...) and 270 to win data through Claude: www.270towin.com/2026-house-e... There's between ~10,000 - 21,000 polling locations that look competitive. I'd wager the number is somewhere actually in the middle (Claude was being generous).
I'm reading Louis Brandeis' 'Other people's money and how bankers use it.' It offers a fascinating historical parallel to the concentrations of power and finance we see today. You could easily sub out investment bankers and railroads for tech CEOs and AI.
My friend RT O'Brien launched his Kickstarter campaign today -- He's releasing a data protection board game. I suspect quite a few followers are board-game geeks, and if that's you, you might consider backing him. Making privacy/DP fun is a great way to educate people on why it's important.

Dear Rahm: sincerely, fuck off. Impeachment should be the priority. Everything else demonstrates that the Democrats have learned nothing from the past two years.
Former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel calls on Democratic lawmakers to set aside plans to impeach President Trump if they win a majority in the House, pushing them instead to pass an ethics reform package.
I feel like North Korea is actually looking sane by comparison. Utterly deranged shit.

Screw-ups should be costly. There should be a high government fine on top of it, plus paying to clean-up and re-secure the systems hacked. These are equivalent to industrial accidents and should be treated as such, imo

OMFG. I have never been so excited about a show coming out...

The only people who should be institutionalized are people in the Trump administration. I'd support them being locked away until they rot.
Scoop: At a secret meeting this summer, an aide to Stephen Miller laid out Trump administration's plan to make it easier for states to round up and institutionalize mentally ill homeless people — by pushing a drastic policy change that would weaken the rights of millions of disabled Americans.

Big Tech companies like Google, SpaceX, and Meta aren't just monopolies—they're becoming ungovernable through tech extensivity. Why €4B in fines went uncollected.

SOLUTION: The very biggest companies can afford to deal with a lot of data authorities. So I introduce a Very Large Data Controller regime, modelled after DSA/DMA. The VLDCs, in addition to stricter controls over how they process data, have the GDPR applied in the jurisdiction of the data subject.
We all know that the GDPR et al. aren't working great. Alas, the current proposals to fix that — in what EU jargon calls an "omnibus" — make it way worse. This counter-proposal is: better for people, simpler for businesses, *much* stronger on security, competition, sovereignty, and online safety. 🧵
A Real Digital Omnibus for European Competitiveness and Security
This document is offered as an expert contribution to ongoing discussions about the data aspects of the Digital Omnibus. Drawn from my experience in digital policy, technology strategy, and digital business, I find that the Commission's current Omnibus proposal contains a small number of provisions that achieve genuine simplification and strengthen the reliability of the regulatory environment, alongside a larger number of provisions that, however well-intentioned, would produce outcomes contrary to the legislative aims set out in the Commission's own framing. My purpose is to provide the framework and background information necessary for trilogue interlocutors to identify which provisions can be retained, which can be improved, and which should be reconsidered, so that the final Omnibus achieves the impact that its proponents seek.

People need a realistic POV when it comes to power. We should assume he will do the cause chaos during the midterms. He probably will have armed goons at polling places. Using the Insurrection Act is on brand. I'm not saying to despair, but I do think more people should PREPARE.
FLAG: Trump doesn't rule out using the Insurrection Act around the midterms during an interview with TIME. "I don't rule anything out or in." "I could use it. A lot of people think I should use it sometimes." time.com/article/2026...
Today, Hegseth announced: - F.O.R.T.R.E.S.S. America; basically FALLOUT. - Autonomous Warfare Command aka Autowarcom; basically SKYNET. - Project Meridian; basically WEILAND-YUTANI.
In my younger days, there were multiple times where my well-tuned 'this is not safe, and will probably escalate' alarm went off, and I left, rather than be assaulted. Sometimes, I'd even tell my male friends and colleagues exactly why. None of them ever asked, much less helped.
Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.
do men understand the extent to which women are ready to burn it all down right now
This will of course, continue to escalate until the US is basically Taliban-lite as far as women are concerned. This is what happens when we don't vote. Republicans win, and elect Supreme Court justices who roll back everyone's rights.
To recap: three GOP-led states that wanted the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade in order to "send abortion back to the states" are now asking the Court to strike down abortion protections in blue states
