A person wearing glasses and a blue T-shirt with the name "Dr. Jasmine Clark" stands in a corridor. The text announces that Democrat Jasmine Clark wins the Georgia U.S. House election in 2026. The text highlights that this makes them the first Black woman Ph.D. scientist in Congress. The background features a purple banner with the words "Election 2026" and a Georgia state outline.

"The president wasn't even mad about the Saddam Hussein comparison! But he was very upset about the Cheesecake Factory" -- here's Obama's full riff about the "phony outrage" over his Trump/Cheesecake Factory comments and how it illustrates that "these are not serious people"

University leaders trying to engage the right wing assault on higher education is such a bad idea because the criticism is bad faith, good faith will never be reciprocated, and they have the demolition of the university as a core movement goal. You can’t make peace with it, you can only defeat it.

Wild and revealing interview with Steve Bannon about Trump's attack on universities. ""Universities, Bannon said, are the only reason that Democrats are “able to compete with us.”" www.bostonglobe.com/2026/10/27/n...

“In an unprecedented pre-emptive strike on democratic elections, the Department of Justice—acting on the President’s personal orders—demands that this Court enjoin the certification of the ongoing U.S. Senate election, but only if the President’s preferred candidate loses,” the filing says.

“Before Google’s arrival a few months ago, an estimated quarter of a million trees occupied the 330 hectares (815 acres) of forest… After the tech company illegally stripped the entire area to build a datacentre – taking even the top soil with it – all that remains is a vast expanse of mud”

“How do we fight their fire hose of lies with a fire hose of truth every day?” Ben Meiselas and Don Lemon on why independent media is winning — and why nobody should ever normalize Trump.

Like it or not, that message of rage and hate has worked pretty well for them over time and acted as excellent cover for all the fucked up ways they’re screwing most people. However, screw enough people over badly enough and that rage and hate gets turned toward you and they haven’t grasped that yet

Trump/MAGA simply can't grasp how James Talarico can be appealing to people with a message of kindness toward immigrants and our neighbors because their own politics is grounded in rage and hate. Trump-friendly oligarchs are buying up major media with the regime's help. They control CNN, CBS, Fox, TikTok, Meta, X and major local TV chains. Yet Mike Johnson is still claiming liberal bias. The real media conspiracy is the corporate consensus to normalize Johnson and other right-wing radicals.

Mike Johnson offers a conspiracy theory to explain away his party's dire polling: "I believe there's a concerted effort between Democrats and the mainstream media that's openly biased in their favor to discourage the Republican side"

Trump waiving sanctions against Russia is the most predictable thing ever. The silence of some GOP elected officials is likewise the most predictable thing. Throw the trash out in November. This isn’t funny anymore

The most sickening thing is not that Elon Musk is pumping hundreds of millions into the midterm elections. The most sickening thing is that this doesn't make even a dent on his grotesque fortune, which means he will continue to abuse the power his wealth provides him.

I love this answer so much because it gets at the heart of what humanities scholars do and what's so threatening to authoritarians about it: Criticism is not inherently a negative. Criticism is looking at something to understand the parts of it and form deeper opinions about it with appreciation.

This was such a great answer from Abdul El-Sayed about his previous criticisms of President Obama.

Six days after ICE shot him in the Bronx, Oscar Belgal remains in MDC Brooklyn, and still hasn’t gotten surgery to remove the bullet in his neck. “He has experienced a loss of sensation in half of his face, as well as hearing loss in his left ear.” Gift link: www.nydailynews.com/2026/10/14/l...

ICE never identified themselves during NYC shooting of Oscar Belgal, who still has bullet in neck: lawyers

The Legal Aid Society, which now represents the 28-year-old father, filed a habeas corpus petition in Brooklyn Federal Court Wednesday, seeking his “immediate release on reasonable conditions.”
