I went to high school with @micahlasher.bsky.social + wish we were still living in USW. Also of note: "the bulk of the outside spending — more than $20 million — came from PACs funded by AI executives [b/c of] Bores, who passed a regulatory bill in Albany last year." gothamist.com/news/micah-l...

People said Occupy was a failure and it ushered in 15 years of actual political engagement on economic inequality People like to call BLM, Abolish ICE, etc failures and, no. Spontaneous mass protest moments rarely win immediately. But they change the political environment and lay the groundwork.

"HB 490's vagueness leaves the door open for pretextual terminations that would shut down departments & majors, closing doors for students & eliminating their opportunities to learn about a wide variety of topics. It prioritizes profit over education & partisan interests over academic achievement."

Kentucky Senate Passes Bill Allowing Easier Faculty Layoffs

The legislation would explicitly permit terminations for low enrollment or “misalignment of revenue and costs.” The GOP supermajority can override any veto from the Democratic governor.
