Daily Diary Comix - now in color I'm currently finding a process that works for me - and it's messy and honestly foregoes a lot of traditional writing. I think very visually and tend to choke on writing.

I'm finding out that a lot of my limits are that I learn by watching others, and sometimes I get caught completely in their process. I focus more on perfecting that process instead of just doing the damn thing!

The last time I did a 38 page comic was 2010. It was my first (and only) full length comic. I followed 'process' to the absolute letter, and then ran far, FAR away from comics.

But I love comics so much! So I kept butting my head up against process, and just... burning out. I've been coaxing myself away from the process, and just making the damn thing. I'm learning a LOT about myself and what I enjoy doing in the process. Right now I'm having a ton of fun!

The original process:
Write down story / design characters
Thumbnail scenes and adjust for page count
ink/letter/etc
Finished comic

Current process:
draw a character - love her enough to make her a story
-rough gist of story
-cool, what locations do you need to make that happen?
-what characters do you need to make this happen?
--map of the area

Writing is intimidating, and I think very visually, so let's see how far this process can take me

And I'm gonna be the fastest I'm gonna be so quick that you're never quite sure If you're tough enough to last this 'Cause when you got the Halloween blues, there's a guaranteed cure

Daily Diary Comix! Bad break! Yesterday my engine died on the highway. Scary! I just lost a car in April due to a deer, so I'm not ready to be completely car-less. (Insurance didn't even cover the lien fully I had on my other car - I'm just out a car, but still have the debt)

Daily Diary Comix! Highschool really wanged chung, huh? Bad skin, bad attitude, and nothin' but hostility and horniness. Apologies to Mr. Antonucci for yoinkin' that style, but I love the Ed, Edd, n' Eddy Kanker Sisters. Marie Kanker was the template for teen me (<3 DD is best)

Daily Diary Comix - ...I have a LOT of Cloonan comics. A lot. You don't even wanna know how many editions and floppies I bought of Somna. ...that copy of East Coast Rising has seen far better days. I lent it out CONSTANTLY.

B&W Comic PageB&W Comic PageA photo of several comics and zines that Becky Cloonan has worked on. This is not even remotely my entire collection, as I have a few prints, shirts, and seriously, she has a MASSIVE body of work. It'd take me a few hours to pull every title in my collection that she's worked on.

6) Nihilism isn't necessarily pessimistic. Nothing Matters, but that's good. The universe will go dark one day at the name of the last human will vanish into the vacuum. So fuck it: take that gap year in Sweden. Change your major to Art. Go out tonight. Blow off that party you don't wanna go to.

Daily Diary Comix - or maybe Daily Diary Zine at this point. Cue up Kuroi Namida by Anna Tsuchiya for the full effect. Warning: this one contains child loss, suicidal ideation, and one of the most memorable 48 hours I've experienced. 1/3

Daily Diary Comix - This is a long one! 6 pages! I truly loved Jimmy Jams with all of my heart, but woof. What a rough start. That was just in my first month of going there! 1/3

Daily Diary Comix - Senior Year Teen!Me would be shocked at how much I love MCR these days. Seeing Gerard Way screaming with those big peepers really freaked me out back then - I was a total ska kid at the time.

A B&W comic. The opening panels are shots from different music videos:
Toxic
Sugar We're Going Down Swinging
Rich Girl
Feel Good Inc.A B&W Comic. Seriously, Vampire Money reeled me in, and Danger Days sealed it with a kiss! A concept rock album with the comic art of Vasilis Lolos and Becky Cloonan! I regret not getting into them sooner - WHAT AN ALBUM. I'm glad we get to see them this summer!

Daily Diary Comix - Two weeks ago I got to be part of the 1st Rochester Zine Fest! It was so good, like a dream. I got to talk about art all day, and see old friends, and make new ones. It was so healing!

Daily Diary Comix: Oops - been forgetting to post these here. Too many sites - too busy havin' fun. Note: I found these sandals for $20 at a TJ Maxx a few weeks after drawing this.

A B&W comic page with three panels. The first panel features a woman shopping on her phone. The second panel features a pair of the Steve Madden Jelly Heels. So CUTE, but fuckkkkk that price. If the shoe is plastic make it cheapppppp. The third panel is a 3-body drawing of the woman collapsed, pleading to the heavens, and making a pained expression while shouting about the price of $59.95
