I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

An update: huge credit to the journal editor, who when the authors resubmitted, appointed a new reviewer who took exception to the same qualities. We now have a third submission to evaluate. Authors claimed that AI tools were used to check the text for grammar and clarity, not to generate anything.

So – last week I had a peer review to do for a journal from a major publisher, an overview article by well published researchers. It was late, so I stayed back to work on it. Some hours in, a few things snapped into focus, and I realised that large chunks had been “written” by generative AI. (1/12)

Just sharing this again at a time of what's happening in Australia. In Event Horizon Sam Neill requested that the Australian flag on his character's uniform remove the Union Flag from the corner & for it to be replaced with the Aboriginal flag, the way he thought it should look in 2047
