I take trains pretty frequently so I've had quite a lot of odd train experiences in several countries. But today was a first. The train I was on, accidentally abandoned one of its conductors at a tiny train station we were not even meant to stop at. I am puzzled!
Hey all, I have a big favour to ask. At the beginning of the week, a large client that we had 100% expected to get started with a large project this month has dropped out at the most inconvenient time for us.

This is the main meadow in my local park. Normally on a rain free weekend like today, it is full of students picnicking, playing spikeball, and chatting. Today it is totally deserted. Glad to see people are smart enough not to be in the sun in 37°C temperatures. Sad to see the grass so dead.
Maximum temperature in Freiburg (Breisgau) was 39°C today. At 8pm it is still 37°C outside. In my flat it is 30°C. So about 1°C increase since yesterday. So the insulation is actually not bad, but we are on day 9 of temps over 35°C and warm nights, so no way to cool the flat down naturally anymore.

Even nighttime temperatures are in the mid 20s (higher between buildings), making it hard to cool down flats even with open windows overnight. It is 8pm. My flat is at 29°C, the outside temperature is still 37°C.

I keep rechecking the weather forecast cause I cannot fully believe that the whole next week will have 35°C+ temperatures. I have resources and will somehow cope (not yet sure how). Am worried for many others who will not be able to cope with these scorching temperatures. #heat #climatechange

Decided yesterday to finally fix the flat tire on my secondary bike. It's a glorious refurbished former English postal bike. Unfortunately, it turns out that it is very hard to fix a bike whose lock doesn't want to open. So before tackling the tire I had to learn how to use an angle grinder....

Voting for the #Freiburg mayoral election closed a few minutes ago. I am curious when the first results will be available. Apparently the turnout was higher than for the last mayoral election in 2018.
