Still thinking about this one today. Continues Kurosawa's criminally good run of the past few years - an elegant, spectacular film about faith, ethics, and violence that's also at least 20% "gather all the suspects so I can explain how this crime was committed"

Jimmy Cagney, among other people, is still alive to me, because of this.
