I was really touched to be asked to speak at Kahu Carter’s campaign launch a few weeks back. Honestly I nearly voted two ticks for her last time so this time I’m happy to get a chance to make it official. Ānei tāku kōrero!

This might be bold of me but I think I'd describe Kahu Carter as the natural successor for Christchurch Central. She's kanohi kītea. She already is my representative - just this time I finally get to give that green tick twice.

Y'know, I don't think I've ever seen a perfume commercial that actually tells me anything about what it smells like. Which you would think would be the main reason to buy it. Surely.

“No one would thank us for it” is such minimising language that continues to perpetuate the harm. I think many people in Aotearoa would in fact thank National for taking an actual firm stand on racism in their Government, not least those facing increased violence because of Winston’s actions.

anyway, the question being posed is something more akin to "is ADHD defined too broadly, such that everyone gets a diagnosis, treatment, and accommodations even if I don't think they deserve them?" and the answer to *that* is a hearty "fuck you."

Tech guys didn’t decide to be fascist: the structure of tech culture tended towards fascism as the kind of politics necessary to ensure public support for their boondoggles. Like… what other kind of politics aligns with the algorithmically driven surveillance state they imagine as the future?

Tech guys decided to be fascist first and foremost, so any product or development they are pushing is automatically also fascist now. Sorry I didn't choose this fact they did. Not my problem.

Modern liberal politics makes a lot more sense when you view UBI as essentially a stopgap solution to the problem of automation reducing the amount of workers from whom surplus value and thus profit can be extracted.

I don't care about the Hank Green thing, but I hope that we collectively learn the right lesson from it. Let's diversify our information consumption and make up our own minds, rather than find a more morally pure Great Man upon whom to calibrate our perspectives.
