Somebody asked me on Reddit why people who use AI to generate Recomp projects are currently being rejected from the communities and what they can do to fix this. I might tweak parts of this to be a more general blog post at some point, but this should be of help to anyone in a similar situation.

This graphic ends up with a pretty bad rounding error, magnifying the smallest from 60 to 6. Made this graphic in a rush: each line is one person. It shows the proportion of 6 vs 4.5k more accurately and intuitively. It's closer to 'how many people misclick/did not understand the question' levels.

a sloppy, sketchy collection of tally marks that color-code responses to a survey about how important human-made text is to respondents. Out of 4,449 responses reported here, six responses say it was not important, 109 said it was somewhat important, and the rest, at 97.4%, said it was very important. I find visualizing tallies and groups of tens, hundreds and thousands helps keep a little more context for proportions in surveys. Seriously, if there were *one* single less person who said not important, you could count them on one hand. It is the barest minimum possible needed to count on two hands, and if I said 'you could count it on two hands' you might think I meant 10, and that's almost double the number of people who said that it wasn't important that writing is authored by a human. And as I colored in this graphic, I got to think about how people could arrive at the conclusions they did- I can see how you could try to argue 'if you're just copypasting something that doesn't matter, maybe it's fine if a bot copypastes it. Or how many people in a group of 4.5k would misread the qusestion, or misclick. I'm assuming this survey comes from ellipsus users, which already selects for people who do the act of writing, find value in it, and likely find value in reading writing by other people. This is also a survey made of responses, not every person asked responded, and a larger survey doesn't necessarily mean more accurate results, let alone rsults that are honest, persuasive, or worth making decisions on actions over. But, again, I want to point out that by being a little more granular with the data presentation, showing such small numbers and their proportion to larger ones, you get a more accurate intuitive sense of the data in a way an AI can never perceive.

I literally saw a post two weeks back in which a guy with two jobs was flagellating himself because he was short on rent, lamenting that had he donated plasma more, maybe his rent would be on time. This is not in response to any one specific persons. I am seeing so many people saying how appalled and disgusted and angry they are it has drowned out terms to actually search for. I am seeing so many memes and clips of conferences I dont even know what to be angry about. Everything isn't enough.
