It’s impossible to know the impact our stories have, but I honestly believe this story is some small part of the reason we have not yet had a nuclear apocalypse. Hope is a hell of a thing to fuel a lifestyle with, but it’s why I will always be a science fiction writer.

It’s a short elegaic story about a smart home slowly dying after its owners are wiped out in a nuclear extinction event. Re-reading it now, I’m feeling softly sucker-punched by what it has to offer us.

This is great news. I'm hopeful that it will make them do something about the wait times, and even more hopeful that it will mean 90% less doctors wittering about non-existent side effects for puberty blockers.

Regards is my default (I am a tad formal and old-fashioned). But I will mirror whatever the other person is using unless it feels *very* un-me. And I will second-guess everything whenever I see a thread like this!
Jake Charles@jacobdcharles.bsky.social · 3w agoWhat are the best and worst email sign-offs? I usually use “Thanks” or “Best” but occasionally switch to “Sincerely” when those feel insufficient. “Regards” sounds a tad formal/old fashioned.
