Just finished Fiends of the Eastern Front Vol 1. Fun read for a $15 secondhand book. But man, this is one of those cases were the original run wasn't exactly setting the world on fire (for me at least). But I absolutely dug the secondary material. Later writers really got the premise to shine.

Fun fact about seeing Akira in 4K at the cinemahs: I only noticed now that, in one scene, there's a helicopter's exhaust vent in frame, and as it revs up they actually animated the heated exhaust fumes as a squiggly line bloom.
