Seemingly hot take, but I would take the flip for a billion because a 50:50 chance of putting -hundreds of millions of dollars- into my community, charities, etc. is worth it compared to a million which would probably just give me personal comfort. The billion is only selfish if you keep it!

People plump for the 50k because they’re answering a different question. They’re being asked “Can you afford to turn down a guaranteed fifty grand” and for most people, the answer is going to be “No”, regardless of how many times you tell them it’s obviously better to flip the coin.

If a team makes a game that gets great reviews and doesn't sell, that's a biz failing but the silver lining is you caught lighting in a bottle -- protect that team! It's worth its weight in gold. If you jettison the team but keep the biz people, I don't know what to tell you

Water is completely invisible, so is glass. So a glass of water is completely invisible and thus very easy to accidentally knock over and spill on one's desk. Be careful out there!

So I disagree...I've actually worked remote for the last 6 years and on and off before that with several companies. Remote teams can still build trust, have great communication and make great games together. It takes a different approach than being in the same office but it can be done and done well

I would add to that... having all the team members in close proximity in the same office also really helps smoothing out wrinkles: You don't need a dashboard or a pin message on Slack to inform everybody on the team that the last build has a critical issue that needs fixing.

i think what saddens me the most about all these studios closing is looking at Silksong and Mina the Hollower the real magic happens when a team stays together for years and you can grow your skills and evolve instead of destroying the medium for shareholder yacht #3847

I wrote this comic 2 years ago. I was terrified when I wrote it but had hope it wouldn't come to pass and would be a reminder of how bad things got before we pulled back. It not only has, it has gotten even worse. This is absolutely terrifying and will destroy lives if passed.

Quick plein air kit test on the deck to make sure I've got everything I need before venturing out with it!

Small, free act you can do to bring some good in this world: add positive reviews to ALL you Steam games, especially the small indies. You don't need to write anything smart, just "game good" is enough. Every positive steam review tips the algorithm and helps your fav artists get more sales

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
