404 Media@404media.co · 2w agoIt's possible to scan books without "cutting" them, which literally means ripping off the spine. But why are AI companies doing this? For one, it's cheaper and faster. Also, in a case against Anthropic, a judge ruled it was NOT a copyright violation because the original had been destroyed.
Might move my Rage publication to @leaflet.pub soon :) Huge deciding factor (apart from having my blog posts on the Atmosphere) is the unlimited publications and posts on their free tier.

Hey, anybody looking to hire a Software Engineer? I have 5 years experience with React/Next.js and TypeScript. I know my way around Node.js/NestJS backend. Can learn anything pretty quickly and I'm willing to be trained. I can work any timezone as long as it's remote.

Saw a post where someone was excited about how many books they had read so far this year, and people were dunking all over them because it was a low number by their standards. Just, ew. Don't be like this. Who cares if you've read 150 books or 1. Read what you want when you want. Just read! 📚💙
Why is iOS still a pain point for web development in the year of our lord 2026?
I have so much fun sleuthing my way through books, even if the story isn't a crime or mystery. I find myself highlighting passages and adding notes about my guesses and predictions. I like rummaging through a world an author has built (if they let me).
