I feel like I can’t overstate how good the writing in 007 First Light is. So sharp, so witty, but always keeping a foot grounded… it’s resounding proof you can modernize Bond and still retain his signature elements. IOI have really knocked this one out of the park.

Also, "woke" in the now-common white supremacist appropriated vernacular just means "I'm a bigoted and/or complacent piece of shit, and every reminder of the vastness of human diversity—up to and including simple basic acts of human decency—confront me with my moral failing, causing me to lash out."
derek guy@dieworkwear.bsky.social · 4mo agoI suspect the Pope sounds "woke" to many Christian conservatives because the US is steeped in prosperity theology, where the point of worship is to deliver health and wealth to believers. Thus, "feed the hungry" and "show mercy for the poor" sounds needlessly political and "woke."
