Will you introduce a wealth tax to address this obscenity!? #auspol #greens
We need to address inequality right now. The country's wealth is being siphoned up to a tiny ultra-rich. The top 1% have more wealth than the bottom 75% combined. Just look at the average wealth of the 1% over the past few decades compared with everyone else.
Is the $21 increase for jobseeker an interim measure on the way to a guaranteed liveable income, or is it replacing your commitment to lift every income support recipient above the poverty line? #auspol #Greens
And we won’t leave people behind. We’ll provide the same $1,000 boost for people on income support, so millions of single Australian pensioners, carers, students and jobseekers get cost-of-living relief too.
It’s no time for tinkering and trade-offs that will barely be noticeable to the people who need help the most – whether they’re in a low-paid job, on Centrelink, or both. Greens coming out with a policy that “increases” JobSeeker less than what Morrison did in 2022 is not how you tackle poverty.
Greens launch $21-a-week tax cut in bid to 'replace Labor'
New Greens leader David Shoebridge will address the National Press Club, proposing a new tax cut and a welfare boost and declaring he will pursue "rivers of gold" from the resources sector.

Our country stands at a critical crossroads. Change must occur - but what kind of change? And crucially, for who? I'm presenting our alternative vision for this country at the National Press Club this Wednesday, 12:30pm AEDT. Tune in live on ABC TV & iView.
We keep telling the government - we don't want automated robo-debt, or data centres everywhere, or aged-care assessment by algorithm, or non-professional NDIS decisions. Employ real people. Pay real wages. Fix hospitals & schools. Tax the squillionaires & giant companies. Can't be any clearer.
Older people have been saying this for months. Labor's automation of aged care assessments has been a disaster, under-assessing need and priority, denying care and driving up waitlists. It's past time to bin the whole thing and put humans back in charge of decision-making.
We could just stop harrassing people in poverty, raise the fucking rate and tax the fuck out of rich bastards!
Why does the government insist on trying to recover blood from a stone? If they want to aggressively recover so-called debts from people who've relied on Centrelink payments, they should at least wait until they can actually afford to live. @kristin8x.antipovertycentre.org on the latest debt BS
When public servants give evidence in a public hearing, about jobs that the public pays them to do, their answers should be direct, unambiguous, and detailed. That is the contract between the public and government. Any suggestion otherwise goes against that agreement.

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

The achievement of Serbian students overthrowing Aleksandar Vučić can't be overstated. In 2024, they began protesting. In 2025, they transformed a protest movement into civil dissidence. In 2026, they became a political party — and two months later, crushed a corrupt state-entrenched authoritarian.
