50, he/they/them, microblogging about my experiences as one of the USA's 700+ thousand unhoused persons as well as posting cool retrogaming / retromedia things i see. see ALT text for details of game screenshots.

mom's gone nearly a decade, but today would be her 77th bday if she weren't. nine years i've waited for time to make good on its promise to heal all wounds so i'd stop missing her. today i finally understood that missing someone special isn't a wound.

a few days ago, a very measured and intentional human told me something i never expected: "you're my favorite person." it was then i realized the bucket list i've kept over the years had all the wrong things on it.

tonight's volunteer shift at the library was reviewing the inventory of sci-fi books and lol, sure, I'll do that. I basically do that every time I go anyway, but this time in a way that's seen as helpful. You're welcome?

went to my first Amazing Art Expo on sunday. free admission was an irresistable lure. they were not lying: amazing art filled the expo. all human-generated, and the humans i met were amazing art themselves. next up: a free performance of the musical A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder.

passed the exam with a "well-qualified" rating, then immediately went into an interview with a 3-member panel. they recommended me for hire, so now it's only a matter of passing the background check. from there, an offer and start date. training will take a year and will be paid.

abandoned my west coast experiment and headed back east 😞 taking a physical job so soon after surgery and with nowhere to sleep and heal wasn't my best decision ever. deeply disappointed with myself but not giving up on me. maybe my 911 dispatcher ambitions will pan out this time. exam this friday 🙏

woman i had a crush on: i'm moving to town center this summer. looking forward to spending more time with you! me, now living nearly 3000 miles away: wow, good for you! about seeing me, there's a minor wrinkle...

i am now, somehow, employed. so are several of my formerly unemployed buddies. and some who were also unhoused are now housed. i met a bunch of cool new buddies too, who are all wildly neurodivergent and, somehow, want me to be part of all their things. feeling cautiously ok.

Two surgeries back to back tomorrow. One for better quality of life, and the other for life with which to appreciate better life quality. After that a period of recovery for some days, followed by relocation to a far off place in hope of greater quality in other life matters as well.

Pretty sure my body's a car. Every time I take it in for a quick oil change, I leave with a long list of needed repairs. Now I'm knocking them out one by one. Had a stent placed in my heart. Not sure if I survived or died and went to Hell. How is one supposed to tell the difference? 🤔
