Starting July 31, Albertans will be able to pay to skip the line for diagnostic testing. In other words, the poorer you are, the lower the chances you’ll get timely treatment—and survive.
This is where being able to identify class within immigrant communities comes in handy. Upper-class workers with university degrees are more likely to be able to choose where to go, and in what conditions. It’s poor migrants from the Global South whose lives here would be made more precarious.

Smith wants to use our friends, families, neighbours, and colleagues as props to "send Ottawa a message." By voting "no," Albertans can send her a message: enough with the scapegoating. Enough with the populist bullshit. If we don’t, you can bet we'll see a dozen more referendums targeting others.
What are some tell-tale signs of a lower class neighbourhood in Calgary? Like, things that you see (or don’t see) the moment you set foot on a neighbourhood that immediately tell you this is not where the middle and upper classes live.
