Instead MLS withdrew teams from the domestic cup again to accommodate it. There are similarities between FIFA's latest stunt and how MLS/SUM operate.

The big casualty would, of course, be the Women’s game. The next big tournament is next year’s Women’s World Cup and if this doesn’t sort itself out straight away, it will be compromised.
