The most glaring double standard in American politics today is that if a Democrat said 1/10th about GOP-leaning areas what this guy says about cities on the daily there'd be a media dogpile so swift and vicious there'd be nothing left of their bones for the hyenas to pick at.

Yeah, the last time we gave up anything like a top 100 prospect was for 5 years of Yelich, so we’re really in uncharted waters here. If you win the WS or he busts, it’s obviously fine, but the downside here is massive because the talent is huge.

We just haven't been burned badly by any prospects/players we've traded away in the Stearns/Arnold era in terms of anyone ending up way better than the FO expected. Maybe it happens here - but if it does it'll be an exception.

Alright, I was cranky and jet lagged and I still hate giving up Frias to rent a couple of solid pitchers, especially in the division, but… 1) Frias does have a long ways to go and obvious warts 2) Arnold is no dummy and deserves some faith 3) their pitching staff got noticeably better yesterday

1) you play teams in your division twice as much as anyone else, 4 times as much as teams in the other league. 2) gertimg a bye is a big advantage in the modern playoff structure and to get a bye you must first win your division. They’re still easily the most important teams to beat.

Just curious. What is the rational reason to not want to trade within the division in this era? There are multiple wild cards now, you only play division opponents 6-7 more games a year than other NL teams. Seems more of an emotional "I don't want to get reminded we had him slightly more often"
