Bought myself a new camera as a little gift for passing a milestone recently, here's some tests I did today in Lyon
Looking at where Epic is headed, I guess it’s time to learn Godot
Australia is planning some of the world's toughest AI regulations • Water usage will be limited • AI data centers will be required to become net producers of energy • AI companies can't train on Australian creators' work without their permission • Proposals expected to be introduced in 2027

Id switching to Unreal on top of laying off most of the team is some of the most short sighted stupid decision a tech CEO took recently. Id makes shooter, Id's Engine s'been here for decades to build shooters Microsoft wants to make Shooters. Sharma is not even a clown, she's the all circus. 🤡
An Id Software developer claims it’s been 'nuked into the dirt' and ‘relegated to support studio size’, as 136 layoffs are confirmed at the Doom and Quake studio. vgc.news/news/id-soft...
bro they laid off the Doom 2016 developers. that's like if you laid off the studio that made arguably one of the best first-person shooters of all time, like Doom 2016
xbox firing all the id engineers might be the single funniest evil decision made by a games executive ever thats could potentially somehow be stupider than the 1 billion users a day quote
We should just follow the same rules: if a game isn't commercially available for 36 months, it's abandonware.
Real-time scene sync + self-hosted server + git compatible? Amazing. My team and I can’t (won’t) touch alpha-grade tech in our main project, but boy do I look forward to give this a try. store.godotengine.org/asset/inkand...

I’m happy to announce the release of a new open source 3D physics engine called Box3D. I’ve been working on this project for a few years now, but it represents over 20 years of experience writing physics engines for games. Read more here: box2d.org/posts/2026/0...

Steve shall be an example of why modern games have awful UX with too many mechanics and convoluted loops
"Marathon is too complicated" "extraction shooters aren't fun" "what about the player count" I give you: Marathon Steve www.reddit.com/r/Marathon/c...
LEDs are cheaper, pollute less and easier to produce…. But damn old halogen light had such a vibe, the gradient
You. Citizen. Clean up this reflecting pool.
Oh btw those trees are Non Nanite, Non Lumen, FXAA. Cause we just hate bad perfs and temporal accumulation in this house.
And here's some still screenshots cause the video compression is garbagio here.
Yeah like I don't know if this is something Valve kept on doing or not but it rules as an approach imo... More or less bank placeholder hallway full of notes, where as chunks of real game come in you transition into those and back into the hallway. Gives coherency early on when you need it
have been pondering on the horizontal slice (vs. vertical slice) since reading sam's post and replies last week. coincidentally, we're implementing this at work off of @joewintergreen.com 's advice and knowledge of half-life 2 having a big linear dev hallway in a leaked build with placeholder beats
To put it more bluntly: Epic aren't making an engine anymore, they're making the Fortnite platform. Wanna make your own games? Go somewhere else. They want to kill Roblox.
There is almost nothing in this for me to get excited about. It sounds like they want everything to be always online and part of the Fortnite ecosystem. The only compelling part to me is that Verse's transactional nature might make robust save/load easier. www.unrealengine.com/news/the-roa...
old blog post about trigger_look and so on. makes a couple of the exact same points in the exact same way as another one i did more recently but who's countin'. good cohost comments on this one www.joewintergreen.com/fear-hl2-ai-...
Don't forget the all-important
Which way, modern game trailer?
Bring back CEOs who came up from the dev trenches. These MBA types have no clue what hard work is… We need an episode of undercover boss where the “disrespected” CEO actually has to work in QA or Dev. Forced to crunch to make content till ship. Or no CEO bonus. I wonder how many would make it?
