Id switching to Unreal on top of laying off most of the team is some of the most short sighted stupid decision a tech CEO took recently. Id makes shooter, Id's Engine s'been here for decades to build shooters Microsoft wants to make Shooters. Sharma is not even a clown, she's the all circus. 🤡

An Id Software developer claims it’s been 'nuked into the dirt' and ‘relegated to support studio size’, as 136 layoffs are confirmed at the Doom and Quake studio. vgc.news/news/id-soft...

bro they laid off the Doom 2016 developers. that's like if you laid off the studio that made arguably one of the best first-person shooters of all time, like Doom 2016

xbox firing all the id engineers might be the single funniest evil decision made by a games executive ever thats could potentially somehow be stupider than the 1 billion users a day quote

Yeah like I don't know if this is something Valve kept on doing or not but it rules as an approach imo... More or less bank placeholder hallway full of notes, where as chunks of real game come in you transition into those and back into the hallway. Gives coherency early on when you need it

have been pondering on the horizontal slice (vs. vertical slice) since reading sam's post and replies last week. coincidentally, we're implementing this at work off of @joewintergreen.com 's advice and knowledge of half-life 2 having a big linear dev hallway in a leaked build with placeholder beats

Bring back CEOs who came up from the dev trenches. These MBA types have no clue what hard work is… We need an episode of undercover boss where the “disrespected” CEO actually has to work in QA or Dev. Forced to crunch to make content till ship. Or no CEO bonus. I wonder how many would make it?
