Best moment ever. I hit a PB on my run today and I let out this absolute animal scream. I was that spent and stoked. Just let it rip. I didn't mean to, it just happened. A dude came over and gave me a bro hug and asked if I was OK and if I needed anything or if I wanted to talk to someone. 💛

Increasingly, Soylent Green serves as one of the best metaphors for AI -- it's taking all that we are, as people, chumming it up, and feeding the slurry back to us. We're told that we need it, it's nutritious, it'll save the world, even as it damns it and us.

Major win today. I needed to solve two ENORMOUS problems in my draft of Bone Raiders 3. If I couldn't, the book flat-out wouldn't work. I was ready to lock in. I solved both, stone cold, in under twenty minutes. Keep showing up, every day. Good things happen.

I think early on there was some natural curiosity in seeing if generative "AI" was going to be beneficial. I think we caught on that a) it wasn't going to make our writing better, b) it was all based on stolen work anyway. Any writer using it at this point is lazy and/or looking for an angle.

It’s bad enough for new writers to use AI. But when I see veteran writers who’ve been at this for 10+ years, suddenly start using gen AI… I wonder why? They were already good writers with success, why tarnish that? ☹️

Something I will never forget: AI companies didn't ask writers to help. Nobody consulted us. Nobody reached out. You just took our work. Stole it. And then you stood in broad daylight and told us that if we didn't give you a pass and get on board, we would get left behind. Fuck all y'all
