I’m the youngest person on this river cruise by about 30 years. I used this power to attempt to unionize the older ladies as we were called up for a dance competition. They didn’t bite.

It took about a week to receive 100 queries - thank you to everyone who sent materials! I'm making my way through and hope to be able to open either in July or August to a new category!

Reminder that tomorrow, I will be open to queries for queer romance with magic elements until I reach 100 queries! Please do not send me other things, because I will not consider them at this time (unless you have a referral link). I will open again hopefully in August for something else!

**I will be opening to queries on Monday, June 1 until I reach 100 queries** During this time, I will ONLY be accepting queries for queer romance with magical elements. Think Sangu Mandanna, Sara Raasch - romance + grounded/very low fantasy. Let magic enhance love, and make me swoon. #amquerying

Insurance is such a scam. I hit my out of pocket max a month ago. In spite of this, I have still paid $200 in medical expenses. UHC informs me I have to call urgent care to get reimbursed. And I *might* get money from Optum Rx back in 3 months. Doesn’t matter that they’re an arm of UHC.

Just an fyi: someone is emailing authors pretending to be me again. **rebeccamatte.agent.bradfordlit@gmail.com IS NOT my email address.** Please be aware of scammers and do not pay an agent for any reason. We pay you, not the other way around.

I think I’m going to try something new with queries — I’ve learned that 500 queries take about 6 months, and I don’t like staying closed that long. So at a friends suggestion, I’ll be opening more often but for smaller numbers, looking for specific subjects, genres or authors. #amquerying

*Gasp*! Cover reveal AND preorder discount for ONCE, AGAIN, ALWAYS by Amanda Gayle?! To quote Amanda (not on bsky), it's preorder season, so consider getting in on this delicious second chance romance with a discount! Code PREORDER25. Credit to @ivmaruva.bsky.social for the gorgeous cover art!

Cover reveal of Once, Again, Always, featuring a man and woman sitting on a blue sofa surrounded by booksA second-chance romance following a young woman who wakes up in the hospital with no memory of the past six years, only to find that she apparently married the one man she can’t stand—her arrogant and infuriating former boarding school rival.

Molly Graham’s day can’t possibly get any worse after she wakes up in a hospital bed with a head injury and amnesia. But then Aster Bishop—the Aster Bishop who made her life hell at boarding school—storms into her room calling her his wife.

To Molly’s shock, in the six years she no longer recalls, she somehow fell in love with a man she once despised. Persuaded by her lifelong friends to give her new reality a chance, she reluctantly returns to the home she and Aster share to try and piece together her life.

So much has changed, not least the considerate and devastatingly handsome man who spends every night sleeping on the sofa to avoid making her uncomfortable. This Aster is nothing like the entitled boy she once knew. Their chemistry is undeniable, but he’s distant with her, infuriatingly so. It’s clear he has secrets, and Molly can’t stand it. Especially knowing that she might never regain her memories.

That she fell in love with Aster Bishop once is hard enough to believe. But to fall in love again? To promise a future, always, when she can’t remember her past? It feels impossible when faced with a man she hardly knows and isn’t sure she can trust.

And yet…Preorder25 code for Once, Again Always

This is extremely true. Arts improve with practice and must artists just get better and better. I know writing best and average debut age for a novelist is 35, and every book is better written than the last. Some skills can peak fast: math, music, swimming; others slow: writing, fencing, painting

Alex Bertram-Powell@alexbpart.bsky.social · 5mo ago

"Artists peak at 30", "30 under 30", "by 30 you should" ridiculous. Arts industries capital craves young people to exploit and burn out. It doesn't want older artists thriving and guiding the young. It also doesn't want artists to exist. Stop letting cannibals tell you you only matter on a plate.

I'll be coming up with some posts for this today myself. But remember your book doesn't have to be a perfect match to my #MSWL to send it to me. If I'm open to your genre and you think we could be a good fit, please query me! Link in my pinned post.

In honor of #MSWL day, seemed like a good time to share some things I'm especially excited about. My clients are prepared to inundate me shortly with manuscripts, so not sure when I'll open, but I promise to keep you updated!

So I feel (both as a reader & author) like discoverability of new books is down lately, especially for the midlist. Please tell me some recently published (past year-ish) SFF books you loved that are midlist/overlooked/deserve more hype! (And please share your recs/this list!) My recs in reply!
