News of WCC job cuts is troubling to me, and people clinging to a dubious Deloitte report to justify them. Greens including me voted against some of the cuts - eg cycleways and climate change. Instead I put up cuts to consultant budgets. The rates pressure is real but job cuts hurt us all too.

You know, always thought if you do the work and try and be nice to people that was the path forward. I was wrong! The answer is clearly to be a man who punches down, is rude and awful to people and keep failing upwards!

Wellington will be consulting on a change to land value ratings. Very happy personally as I have been advocating for this for many years, and happy for our city as this change helps support housing and growth we need for a brighter future. Please have your say in consultation.

Even (or especially) in hard times with constrained resources, cities need to embrace change and things to look forward to. Predatory delay from political opposition & poor delivery helped kill the Golden Mile, but it was this council that actually did it. We should expect more.

I get that cities, including Wellington, need to take seriously cost of living issues and cut costs. But I can’t say it’s not gutting to see plans and goals to transform our city from multiple terms being shelved, and I am not convinced it’s the answer. 1/3

This government is utterly exhausting. Having iwi reps ensures we have mana whenua voices at the table. Their input into decision making ensures council meets their tiriti obligations. Their decisions also benefit EVERYONE. Yet more erasure of indigenous voices. #nzpol

More low income renters are vulnerable in the private market, partly because public housing stock is decreasing, & because govt constrained funded places with other providers. Making the poorest fund a tiny reprieve for other poor people, while landlords got a tax cut. It’s vile.
