Former Mayor. Global Greenie. Political reckons etc etc
i think reporters owe it to the NZ public to stop using euphemisms like "unusual" or adding 'humanising' details to soften what these public figures are doing - associating with extremists and calling their political opponents "barely human". This is very clearly fascist behaviour.
'They're barely people': Paul Henry takes pot shot at Greens during country pub visit
Henry spoke to 60 supporters beneath Confederate flag in a pub that burned Ardern's book.

Mayor: ‘Large chunks’ of Wellington council Deloitte report written by AI
A $435,000 Deloitte report on the council’s staffing levels was written by artificial intelligence, says Little, as the report's credibility comes under increasing scrutiny.

A piece of Aotearoa in Naarm ❤️ from Make Aotearoa Native Again
I might just pin this here.📌 I know we often agree to disagree, but in reality WE are all we have. Our singular goal is to make Luxon & co a #OneTermGovernment and the only way to do that is through authentic & purposeful Kotahitanga. The rest can be worked out in coalition negotiation. #nzpol #NZ🕊️
Fit check for my first Australian Greens National Council meeting. Fizzing. Also wearing a shirt by Māori designer Pania Greenway and earrings gifted by the Indigenous Nurses of Aotearoa ❤️
Not content with wanting to abolish the Climate Change Commission, ACT want to actively accelerate the climate crisis. Announcing this on a day when hundreds have died in Nepal and Tibet from a climate crisis-induced glacier collapse is disgusting. #nzpol
ACT promises tax-free crypto gains after a year
Deloitte made assumptions about job duplications, the council claims - for example treating any role with “project” in the title as a duplicate job.
Consultant’s council staffing report faces more scrutiny over alleged data errors
A new council analysis has raised further concerns about Deloitte’s $435,000 staffing review, alleging flawed data, incorrect assumptions and a $21.5m discrepancy in salary calculations.

so the Meta case reaching a settlement today basically admits that the issues with social media are platform-side design and amplification - ie not access this HUGELY undermines the push for digital ID under the guise of child safety. simply regulate the platforms to not be so fucking evil
Labour supporting the rates cap bill to first reading Their strategy for beating the least popular National leader in 20 years appears to be "we agree with Chris"
So not content with its spinelessness over telling National to fuck off over the Social Media Ban, Labour now want to support Rates Capping from National. The same Rates Capping that will decimate local services like libraries, parks and those roads and pipes www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
National, Labour agree to disagree over two policies they agree on
Having agreed to join forces on a social media ban for under-16s, National and Labour are squabbling over the process and time taken.

Please know I used several expletives this morning when reading that Labour will support the rates capping through to select committee. Cowardice, and continuing to screw over local government. We need CHANGE, not more of the same unfunded mandates and chaos.
Very disappointed to see the govt proposing a ban on under-16s using social media. While we agree there is work to be done, a ban is the wrong approach and interferes with young people's rights to communicate with family, each other, and the wider world. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
Watch live: Govt pushes ahead with social media ban for under-16s
The government is pressing ahead with its ban on social media for under-16 year olds, with the legislation set to be introduced on Monday.

If someone asks me why I’m voting for the Greens I’m gonna be like “well we’ve seen what an ACT-led govt does to the economy I want to see a green one now. Both sides and what not” 🙂↕️
This guy was on council for 30 years and Mayor for 3 while the infrastructure under our feet rotted away. He ran on no rates rises. In Wellington not having nice things. And now he’s moaning about everyone paying through the nose to fix the shit he ignored and actively worked against.
Sigh
At some point someone has to stand up and go "Ok everyone shut the fuck up. You all didn't want Three Waters, so you've got this now. This is what you voted for. It's going to be expensive because Things Cost Money, and you've all underpaid for decades because of political cowardice".
What the fuck is Andy Foster doing at a protest about water rates

So there's Luxon and Bishop criticising Wellington, Andy Foster saying not my fault, the people who voted for this reform are all trying to place the blame on the Councils WHO THE GOVERNMENT SPECIFICALLY STRIPPED AWAY THE POWER TO DIRECTLY CONTROL INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT AND CHARGING FOR WATER.
Now, that's what I call journalism! Just pure newshound energy, 29 seconds of the facts and nothing but the facts. Nice work by Glenn McConnell. 🎬 👏 Maybe the *slightest* hint of an editorialising eye-roll at the end, but entirely understandable in the circumstances. www.stuff.co.nz/politics/361...

The pearl clutching and hand wringing by pakeha commentators coming for Te Pati Māori is off the fucking scale!! This is just another example of why NZ is racist as fuck. Did we not remember the decades where the Māori seats were used to suppress Māori vote. Fuck off with this racist BS! #nzpol
Political update
Te Pati Maori has prompted an outcry this week with its brazen pitch to exploit a-kind-of-loophole in MMP.
