Tim Curry was like a living cartoon character, putting total commitment into every role he ever did no matter how absurd. Nigel Thornberry could have been just another dim-witted character but Tim Curry's performance elevates it to another level.

I think another lesson to take from the loss of both Dolly and Tim Curry is that neither of them took themselves seriously but they took the work dead serious that's the most important thing pour all of yourself into the craft but have fun and don't get an ego.

word to the wise: if you want the support of an art community, make sure the community knows who you are and likes you before you ask twenty strangers to do your promotion. probably the worst first impression you can make.

the lessons we need to take are clear. Dolly said "find out who you are and do it on purpose", and Tim Curry's line is "don't dream it, be it" they would both be disappointed if we wrote that off as corny. so what? it's necessary. we have everything to lose if we are dishonest to ourselves.
If Dolly was our constant reminder that it was Good to be Good, Tim Curry was our reminder that it was Good to be Weird. Embrace your strangeness, sing with Muppets, wear your lingerie with a leather jacket, and fuck with uptight people who hate anything that makes them remotely uncomfortable.
