The other thing worth noting, we've actually poured TONS of money into making child-rearing less expensive, from the CCB to subsidizing daycare programs to increasing federal leave benefits in 1991, 2000, and the 2019 sharing incentive. How much more should the state provide to address birth rates?

Americans and Europeans need to do a building technology knowledge swap: we help them retrofit their old buildings with air conditioning and they help us retrofit ours with elevators.

Of course there's a lot of old history, and I do see where he's coming from regarding his feeling pulled into a role in the family structure that he's trying to escape. At the same time, our individualistic culture gives us too many ways to withdraw, and not enough tools to productively engage.

It’s hard to explain but tv was better when you couldn’t watch the show you wanted whenever you wanted to watch it and most of the shows were worse and the TVs were worse and the entire experience was worse, that’s when it was better

Yes. I heard about it BEFORE Who Framed Roger Rabbit came out. I live in the city that was pretty much the only one in North America that was able to resist. How did Toronto do that? IDK. Maybe that would be an interesting story to explore.

The short version is: after a month the AI has not given me any good reasons to trust it, and I am honestly freaked out by the confidence with which it weaves completely wrong facts into prose, and the confidence with which it writes and professionally formats entire sections of bullshit.
