Just saw a guy with a Brunson/Hart 2028 shirt on the streets of Medford, Massachusetts. What a time to be alive.
It was 33 years ago tonight that the world lost an exceptional basketball player and human being. Here’s a beautiful tribute to Reggie Lewis from Shirley Coshatt of @celticsblog.bsky.social.
The Quiet Celtic: Remembering Reggie Lewis
On the 33rd anniversary of his death, we remember the memories and heartache from a Celtic we lost too soon.

Hard to tell, but I think Tyrese Maxey is excited for the Lebron news too 😂
Wrote more than 3,000 words about my three main problems with basketball analytics, and why I simply don't take them as seriously as I baseball analytics. green-tint.ghost.io/the-three-ma...
The Three Main Problems with Basketball Analytics
Analytics became a flashpoint in the wake of the Jaylen Brown trade, which I found amusing. Much of the discussion was note for note the debate that existed in baseball's discourse back when I was fir...

Marty Barrett and Al Nipper as Some Guys on back to back days is making me feel things.

Timing of Argentina's winners in the knockout rounds: vs. Cape Verde: 111th minute vs. Egypt: 92nd minute (stoppage time) vs. Switzerland: 112th minute vs. England: 92nd minute (stoppage time) They haven't led after 90 minutes of any knockout game. But they're in the final.
Everyone who lives and dies by this sport is sick. This is sick.
So, getting back for last 20 minutes of that was about the most intense sports experience I’ve had in a long time (non-Celtics edition)
I moved my meetings this afternoon so I could watch Argentina/England but forgot to block off my calendar after 4. Guess who now has a meeting in someone else’s office at 4?

To be blunt: incredibly wealth, old, mostly white men don't like having to prostrate themselves before their mere millionaire, young, mostly Black employees. Now they get to exert pressure on them and "win" something back. Make sure they know they're still labor and they're the one to sacrifice.
I’ll always remember my first trip to the Garden as a kid, walking up the long ramp, coming out of the tunnel, staring at the parquet floor and banners and thinking “I’ve never experienced such optionality.”
Chisholm and Brad making me feel like I'm on my billionaire CEO's corporate ass company townhall full of buzz words
Would appreciate a question about whether the newly obtained optionality is wasting Tatum’s prime.
I mean he could sit at home and the team will probably win 50 games. I look at him and I see a physical representation of Tatum's prime being wasted
Upset: Brad went for “optionality” instead of “flexibility”
“No directive from ownership” “The CBA/aprons/tax penalties are real - everyone will be dealing with it” “Flexibility”
I am in the car on a two hour drive back from NH, and we are listening to @kentremendous.bsky.social and @joeposnanski.com ‘s book about the meaning of being a fan. It’s the chapter about hugging Mookie Betts. This is not exactly the situation I had mind when I started the book a couple weeks ago.
Meanwhile Sixers are releasing hype videos with Jaylen’s uniform. Fun.
you can talk about future planning or basketball fit or anything else you want if coping is what you are looking for but on a Basketball and Celtics fan level this just fucking sucks so much
The Celtics and Sixers’ trade of Jaylen Brown for Paul George and draft picks is now official. We’re about two hours from Brad Stevens and Bill Chisholm’s press conference in the aftermath of this deal.

How can you not be romantic about basketball when your team can acquire tortured-language sentences like that in exchange for a beloved franchise icon?

Analytics doesn't measure the "goodness" of a player. It measures the impact of the player, and all this is extremely context dependent. Josh Hart had better impact metrics than JB last year, but Josh Hart wasn't carrying a 33% USG like JB.
Not a great day for this, Wilco bot
This is what happens when wings separate
I’d prefer if there was more of a discourse about this instead of Jaylen’s efficiency or what he said his favorite season was.
Every rule and agreement the NBA & its players established over the last 20+ years shifts fandom from the teams to the players. There are few rational reasons to be a fan of any NBA franchise at this point. And if I’m a governor, I’d be very worried about what that means over the next 20+ years.
I am not just connected to a green jersey. The beauty of sports is getting to know players, seeing them get better, and work as a team to win. We have every right to be as upset as we are, nobody can deny us this. It is an honor and privilege to have fans as upset as me — I deeply care.
