essentially every decision AIPAC has made this year they have made not just wrong but maximally wrong

btw if you’re ticked at AIPAC for whatever reason them spending a maximum amount of money to barely lose is ideal, 10/10, just as a pure matter of don’t-know-ball and forward outcome for them as an organization. this cycle has been catastrophic for them purely in terms of inputs and outputs
26-year-old democratic socialist Chris Gilmer-Hill lost his native Detroit 51-40, which was more than enough for him to make up for by crushing state Rep. Helena Scott 61-31 in Oakland County, and I think Detroit DSA gets its first *cadre* elected?
also need to note that while Detroit mail put Thanedar back in contention it very much did not do that for Helena Scott, who is losing Oakland County so badly she can't recover from it
Ethan Corson had Kansas unions and the popular Democratic governor going hard for him and he got cooked by ten points by a populist who wants a moratorium on data centers
Cindy Holscher pulls away in the Kansas gubernatorial primary and will be Democrats' nominee in their toughest gubernatorial defensive race of the cycle
had Stevens won, it would have been on the back of conservative rural whites
A lot of very horrible people are learning that Black voters and affluent suburban voters are not their Emotional Support Electorate(TM) but real humans with real agency and their own political priorities and concerns and they are going to lash out in incredibly nasty ways.
this result and margin held in the near-final Wayne update this morning, progressive trans activist Joanna Whaley officially (and easily) banishes the Liberati dynasty Downriver
near-final result with 19/21 precincts is 56-34 Whaley. the current incumbent is Frank Liberati's brother Tullio and Frank himself used to hold this seat
Stevens's concession is weirdly gracious for the nasty-ass campaign she ran, pleasantly surprised!
…We need to win this Senate seat, because Elissa Slotkin deserves a partner like Abdul in the U.S. Senate.”
A gracious concession: “I want to congratulate Abdul El-Sayed on winning the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. He is a doctor, a community health official, a Rhodes Scholar, and a dedicated Michigander. I am proud to offer my support as he takes on Mike Rogers in the general election…
second big state Senate upset—not only has Groff-Blaszak won, Ingham County Commissioner Mark Polsdofer has lost to MSU prof Rashida Harrison for Lansing-area SD-28, despite having a ton of endorsements incl. the outgoing incumbent and the mayor of Lansing
state Rep. Phil Skaggs is in trouble in the SD-30 primary, it looks like, despite having every endorsement one could want. Grand Rapids BoE president Abbie Groff-Blaszak is currently smushing him—with only Grand Rapids in, so he could turn it around
final update out of Wayne County seals it: Donavan McKinney unseats Shri Thanedar. fourth incumbent House Democrat to get primaried out (excluding redistricting cases), fifth new democratic socialist in Congress (deleted and reposted to correct an error)
how are we still waiting on a complete MI-13 count lmfao Cathy Garrett do your job!!
the mid-off between the Trotskyite and the secret homophobe has somehow resulted in neither of them making the top 2, which gives Adam Smith (D-Boeing) an easy November win
there were not one, but two revolting state house Dems who tried to sue trans women off the ballot because they did not use their deadnames. they've both lost.
oh, this is great to see—Liberati is a gross socially conservative dynasty pol who tried to get Whaley, a progressive, disqualified for not filing under her deadname. Harris+1.5 so she starts out favored
considering that Abdul overall tanked in the rurals relative to polling it's funny that nobody told the UP about that
oh, this is great to see—Liberati is a gross socially conservative dynasty pol who tried to get Whaley, a progressive, disqualified for not filing under her deadname. Harris+1.5 so she starts out favored
First results in the Michigan #HD02 primary just dropped: Joanna Whaley- 56.4% Frank Liberati- 33.7% Gary Schlack- 9.9% Whaley, the evangelical pastor-turned-trans activist, gets out to an early lead
She should do an ad of her housing curds & beer & talking shit on Republicans. No need to mince words
What is u doing
Bonita Gooch is the next representative for Kansas House District 84, unseating incumbent Ford Carr by a 70-30 margin
is she winning
And in the race to replace Stevens in #MI11, moderate State Senator Jeremy Moss is winning, but only pulling 49% and LOSING the election day vote to progressive Aisha Farooqi. Moss- 49.4% Farooqi- 32.7% Torres- 9.7% Ufford- 8.2% bsky.app/profile/uncr...
So... Haley Stevens is only winning Oakland County by two points
populist/progressive/anti-establishment state Sen. Cindy Holscher is barely leading Laura Kelly-backed state Sen. Ethan Corson for the Dem gubernatorial nomination in Kansas
state Rep. Phil Skaggs is in trouble in the SD-30 primary, it looks like, despite having every endorsement one could want. Grand Rapids BoE president Abbie Groff-Blaszak is currently smushing him—with only Grand Rapids in, so he could turn it around
including a guide to help you follow the results tomorrow night!
OTOH: Kent should be good for AES. OTOH: these are absentees, it only gets worse for Stevens in Kent from here.
Michigan U.S. Senate Democratic Primary Kent County Absentee: 🟣 Abdul El-Sayed – 4,106 (55.4%) 🟠 Haley Stevens – 2,895 (39.1%)
C-SPAN has Ken Paxton event on and this man is spectacularly uncharismatic, you mean to tell me THIS is the true avatar of Texan fascism?
Don Beyer putting up about 65% of the vote? Hmm Dot Jpeg Caucus gains its first Virginian
Kai Newkirk is up to nearly 38% of the vote because of late ballots breaking hard for him, and Greg Stanton officially joins the Hmmm Dot Jpeg Caucus for 2028
That it is trivially true that appearing less radical makes it easier to win elections does not mean you can override all other factors by moderating. Polarization in particular means there’s a hard ceiling of how much you can appeal to people.
