Alongside more than 100 MPs, peers and union leaders, we have written to the Home Secretary demanding she immediately halt her 'earned settlement' reforms. These proposals will only inflict harm on families, communities, public services, and the economy. They must not pass.

People are talking about a “U-turn” on digital IDs. New digital checks are still planned, which will make life harder for many people. There is another way: let people work openly, uphold their rights, & create ways for all to regularise their immigration status. The right to work's a human right

As 2025 comes to a close, we want to highlight just how difficult this year has been for migrants in the UK — documented & undocumented. Harmful rule changes, a deepening Hostile Environment, and a long struggle ahead. But also resistance. Read our founders’ words in the Big Issue.⬇️:

Labour's immigration shake-up is like the hostile environment on steroids

Labour's new immigration rules pushes migrant workers into irregularity, exploitation and poverty, says campaigner Munya Radzi.

Longer settlement routes help no-one. When people can settle sooner, many feel more relaxed & hopeful, supporting needs for connection, belonging & participation. Extending routes limits stability &support. UK must abolish policies that marginalise migrants & undermine our rights

More people are being made undocumented — not by accident, but by design. The system itself creates and traps people in irregularised immigration status. The government knows this — and that it can be fixed with a stroke of a pen.

Saying you’re “building a Britain for all” while pushing anti-migrant (i.e. racist) policies is dehumanising. Starmer’s government isn’t tackling racism—it’s entrenching it. If he's serious he’d: ⚡End the hostile environment & scapegoating ⚡Grant the right to stay & make settlement easier for ALL

“Digital IDs don’t break that status quo – they reinforce it. They codify exclusion, expand state control, and punish those without the right paperwork... It is the hostile environment expanded to everyone.” Our founder in today’s Big Issue. Read & share⬇️

Digital ID cards aren't progressive – they're tools of state control

Starmer's digital ID plan is an extension of the hostile environment and must be rejected at all costs, says Regularise founder Munya Radzi.

Digital IDs aren’t a “solution” — they’re a weapon for control. They’ll deepen exclusion, legitimise prejudice, enable exploitation & embolden hostility. Regularise calls on gov to abandon this plan and adopt a pragmatic approach ➡️ REGULARISATION regularise.org/blog/press-r...

Press Release: Digital IDs will deepen exclusion and increase exploitation of undocumented people - Regularise

🚨 The Home Office has launched a mass text + email campaign targeting international students + families: From “Go Home” vans in 2013 → straight to your pocket in 2025. The racist hostile environment hasn’t ended — it’s been upgraded.
