Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher

Honored and proud to represent Texas' 7th Congressional District in Houston, where inclusion, innovation, and collaboration thrive. #TX07

Alim Garipov should never have been taken into ICE detention. Like many detained by ICE, he's working toward a better life after leaving everything he knew behind. I'm proud that so many in our #TX07 community stood up for him, and that together we were able to secure his release.

Americans are being lied to about what this administration is doing, who it's detaining, and why. It has to stop. The detention that we see in Dilley and the trauma that we see in our communities don't serve the interests of the American people. We deserve better.

Today marks 99 days until Election Day and it's time to get ready to make sure your vote counts—literally. USPS proposed a new rule on mail in voting that will reduce access to voting by mail and disenfranchise millions of voters. (1/2)

During our hearing on ICE's use of force in the killing of Lorenzo Salgado, I asked about ICE and DHS's claims that their policies are making us safer. The answer was clear: they're not making us safer, they're putting law-abiding people in danger, and they're empowering dangerous people instead.

Our community is relieved that Alim has been released from detention and reunited with his family. So many people across #TX07 and our community raised the alarm about his unjust detention. Friends, teachers, coaches, parents, and so many others were determined to change things. And they did.

Trump was asked what Americans should expect in his war with Iran, which has already lasted many times longer than he promised. He responded with a comparison to the Vietnam War. This is insane.

Today, I joined labor leaders, elected officials, and people from across our community at SEIU to honor and remember Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and to pledge our continued support for his family and our community and our commitment to seeking truth and justice.

In the House, we keep hearing Republicans talk about waste, fraud, and abuse. But President Trump has dismantled the agencies and organizations designed to combat fraud, and he has pardoned at least 70 allies, donors, and others who have been convicted of fraud. These things don't add up.

As the New World screwworm spreads, we see how failure to prepare impedes a comprehensive response. For decades, dedicated federal experts kept our country relatively pest-free. Last year, USDA terminated roughly 15% of these experts, and DOGE eliminated a Screwworm monitoring program. [1/2]

I am glad to join my colleague @neguse.house.gov in supporting this effort to renew people's faith in our democratic system by ensuring transparency and putting an end to out-of-control spending in our elections.

My resolution proposing a constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision now has 88 co-sponsors! (You can view the full list at: congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-joint-resolution/122) I won’t stop fighting to get it across the finish line.

I join people across #TX07 in remembering and honoring the life of Congressman Bill Archer. Representing Texas' Seventh Congressional District for 30 years, he shaped our community, the Congress, and the lives of so many who shared his passion for public service.

A year ago tonight, the storms that brought floods to central Texas began, leaving more than 100 people dead & devastating so many families here at home & across the state. My heart is with them this weekend, as we continue to grieve, remember, & celebrate the loved ones lost in this tragedy. (1/3)

🧵: This week, the House didn't get much done, but it did pass the bipartisan KIDS Act, a meaningful first step toward protecting children online by regulating how internet platforms, social media companies, and video games treat minors. How did we get here? (1/6)

🚨Tonight, the House overwhelmingly voted to pass the KIDS Act, a bipartisan bill to protect our kids online and finally rein in Big Tech.

Thank you to our terrific panelists from Lawyers for Good Government and the National Council of Nonprofits and to all who attended my webinar on the Trump administration's proposed rules to give political appointees a bigger role in deciding which federal grants get funded.
