Hi! I just launched a new three month DOS jam! Don't have enough free time to contribute to a standard game jam? This one's E X T E N D E D. Please feel free to join in, even (especially!) if you have no experience! It's a very casual vibe, and there are even a few assets to help start you off!

Read this thread right here. This is the damage, this is the price. Wounds inflicted directly on the type of person who TRAINS (unwillingly) your fucking models. Where will your slop machines be when the rest of us refuse to feed them our talents?

this wave of AI has legitimately killed a huge part of what I loved about seeing stuff online, what I loved about being an educator, and what I loved about sharing my own work I just don't feel like doing it anymore

I've been devoted to a pact of non-violence in all things in all ways, but I'm thinking about changing that-- FOR SPORT that is! (don't put me on a list.) I'm getting more interested in fitness and the healthier I get the more I wanna get up and... swing weapons like old times. #HEMA #fencing

Flat Earthers think CG artists work tirelessly to fake footage from the ISS and NASA. Man I wish that were true. I could have a cushy government job and consistent work.

Optimist: The cup is half full Pessimist: The cup is half empty Technical Artist: The cup you have in mind might seem really simple, but there's basically no way to fill it without imposing some extremely counterintuitive limitations on the shape of the cup, or melting your GPU.

Popped over to Twitter to half assedly promote something, and the feed is nearly 100% people I do not follow and do not know using grok to undress people. I guess everyone I followed left. But Holy shit what a catastrophic crater it became.

I’M FINALLY OPEN FOR COMMISSIONS AGAIN! After a cat cancer scare, surgery, infection, and heal-up and then a horrible inner ear infection of my own I NEED INCOME (BADLY) and can make some dope art for you in exchange! No NSFW, no AI ever Email or DM me to discuss what you’d like 👍

My 2026 Commission chart showcasing what I offer and the prices related to them. My old logo resides in the top left, showing my name, "Jeff Pennington" being abducted in a tractor beam by a ufo, with 2026 Commissions next to it. My icon has a little word bubble coming from it that says "Welp!" Next to that some contact info reads:
BlueSky @jeffpennington.art
Insta @_JeffPennington
jeffpennington.art (which is my website)
In the middle center, my contact information is clearly displayed as "contact@jeffpennington.art" where you can e-mail me for commissions.
Under a sketch of Jar Jar Binks from Star Trek as a hardboiled 1930's detective, it reads:
SKETCH
$20 Full Body/ $15 Half Body & Bust
Single Character/ No Background
Next to that, under an ink drawing of a clients dragonborn wizard OC, reads:
LINEART
$50 Full Body / $35 Half Body & Bust
+ 35 per extra character/ +50 Background
And under a full color illustration of The Rocketeer, it reads:
FULL COLOR:
$100 Full Body / $85 Half Body / $70 Bust
+ 60 per extra character/ +80 Background
And finally in the bottom right corner it reads: *Prices vary with complexity.
All art and design by me!

I think devs I respect use UE to some degree of success, but when you use FAB store stuff, it's got undocumented "features" that are hard to reverse engineer, you can't tell why your edits don't work, etc etc. If I did a true project in Unreal perhaps I'd like it, but this asset flip project? blah.

Shigeru Miyamoto says the games that resonate most with players all around the world aren’t those deliberately designed for global appeal, but those based on a developer’s personal interests. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/miyamot...

If developers try to make something the world will like, it becomes generic…

Stupid fucking kid not able to make a proper illustration on their own... what a fucking idiot. This is the real problem today, shitty kid's art that isn't ready for the publishing world.

Today I saw beautiful cartoon animation in a VFX film. Waste of a great animator on the wrong job. People will call it "bad VFX" in spite of it being beautiful- just because it doesn't read as real. And they would be right, really. I never call out the film or studio as a rule. #animation #vfx

even if LLM actually made gamedev more efficient, which I see no reason to believe it has or will, that won't reduce crunch, because the business people will just push harder until you're crunching again. When a tool increases worker productivity, that doesn't translate into better work hours.
