In civilized France, I paid 25% income tax for my ‘free’ medical care (it was not free) and then paid for supplemental insurance for things not covered, like hospitalization. Ppl don’t understand - neither medicare nor universal healthcare abroad are free. Bernie is to blame for the misperception.
I also pay a lot for Medicare, but it's because I'm lucky to not be poor - in fact, I pay more for just my Medicare than I did for myself & children when working. The average monthly social security check is $2088 - that $202 hits them hard. M4A folks say they want no premiums. Hard to see how
