A DHL customs person just advised me, "Use Chat GPT to fill out these customs and Lacey* forms, lots of our customers do it and it works fine" * Lacey forms are for anything made of or containing wood or a plant and they ask for excruciatingly specific details.

The Subaru service rep gave me an odd look and then a big smile when she dropped off my car. I couldn’t figure it out until I got inside, looked around and realized the sole contents are two shovels, a hardhat and four old baseball caps emblazoned with the word “Feminist”.

Today in sexism: 18 months after we specced a ‘heel safe grate’ so women can walk safely around the outside of a public facility in heels, the contractor admitted no one makes them to fit our extremely standard-sized drainhole.

✅Another Flock Safety contract has been canceled in RI! The Narragansett Town Council unanimously voted to end the Town’s contract tonight, after hearing concerns from residents and our affiliate. Thank you to the Narragansett residents who made their voices heard!

1. We have three tissue blocks from the surgery. One has been analyzed. One is at a genomics lab in Hyderabad running a full genomic profile. We're holding the third. If you know a lab that can run something those two won't, tell us.

Moments when you are glad your Zoom camera and mic are not on: Today a school board candidate in a Latino-majority American city said they want to bring more cops into schools for meet-and-greets, so kids learn to like, trust and feel safe talking to them. #shutthefuckupfriday

According to the owner’s manual, my car is old enough for its 130,000 maintenance appointment. But I live in Rhode Island so it only has 31,000 miles on it

Congratulations you received a bouquet this spring with pussy willow twigs in it and now they’ve rooted out! Do not under any circumstances plant them within ~20 feet of your house because those roots will be Trouble. Also note: They’ll be shrubs, not trees because willow trees don’t get pussies.

You know how there’s this thing where you can be famous nationally or even globally but in your home state nobody heard of you? Yeah. Meet Loren Barham, who moved to RI thirteen years ago to launch Loren Hope Jewelry, inspired by RI’s historic jewelry industry leadership 1/

Speaking as the co-founder of a women’s biographical library, books are often the only tangible, accessible evidence of the existence of many notable women of the past. Even the near past! I’ve searched fruitlessly for some books for years. This destruction is devastating. Print is all we have.

No longer content with pillaging intellectual work and dismembering our environment (already critically weakened), AI companies are now hellbent on destroying books galore including rare editions. Shut down these nefarious enterprises already.

Little Sister Cafe on Hope St is closing and honestly the sooner those plastic fake trees are gone from the sidewalk outside, the better I hope the owner does well in Cambridge and we get to enjoy something new - hopefully with faster service

Field trip! Today I get to meet a woman who is a top consultant at slowing traffic so pedestrians and bikes don’t get hit. We will all stand next to Harris Ave in the rain, and probably get splashed by cars going double the speed limit as they often do there. I’m so excited!

"Before, I was saying, ‘As long as you have an ID, you can travel domestically. Now I am turning around and saying, ‘If you are in the process of changing status, avoid any travel.’” – Shannon Shepherd, immigration lawyer

Shannon Shepherd, an immigration lawyer who is vice chair for the Chicago chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, said she and other lawyers were revising longstanding advice about domestic air travel.

“Before, I was saying, ‘As long as you have an ID, you can travel domestically,’” Ms. Shepherd said. “Now I am turning around and saying, ‘If you are in the process of changing status, avoid any travel.’”

The thought of homemade salsa made with locally farmed, late summer tomatoes is what gets me through the long, horrible winter. And now you are saying I shouldn’t make it?
