On prostate cancer screening. I chose to screen because of family history - cancer was found (low grade, early stage). I had active surveillance with MRI/biopsy for a few years. Then when it progressed, I had Nanoknife focal therapy. Modern methods allow control with less overtreatment. #r4today

Paper out in collaboration with the Liedewij Laan group Starting from an interest in PTMs and protein modification, we developed a sortase substrate for farnesyl incorporation. And learned, the hard way, how difficult these compounds are to work with, despite their simple structure 😳

Our paper is out in ACS Synthetic Biology!! A major bottleneck in reconstituting cell polarity is obtaining functional prenylated Cdc42. Here, we developed a Sortase-based strategy to farnesylate Cdc42, which retains membrane binding and regulatory GTPase activity. doi.org/10.1021/acss...)
