I made a small website (instant.river.berlin) to control the SO-101 and pick and place items using ArUco tags! Here's the corresponding blog article - river.berlin/blog/so101-a...
Rock Against Racism began in 1976 as a reaction to a bunch of racist commentary by Eric Clapton. It's 50 years later and people in tech are still saying similar things. Is it time for a Tech Against Racism movement? We could put on some conferences, some gigs, organise to make it unacceptable.
I basically end up regretting it whenever i end up writing non-js/ts code because that code isn't shareable, isn't directly embeddable in a browser, the sharability of non-js code to non-tech folks is very limited.
if you're staying in Berlin, come cowork with us before the atproto npmx svelte meetup!
We're also hosting a smaller event during the day where we'll get together and hack together on any projects you like! guild.host/events/npmx-...
I met @patak.cat @flo-bit.dev @willow.sh in person!, that was awesome @localfirstconf.com !!!!
@localfirstconf.com This is last minute, but and I know this is a long shot – I live in berlin, is it possible by any chance for me to get last minute tickets, I can cycle to where the conference is! If not, totally get it
I've known cases where people were falsely accused, and this is an even worse scenario - students trying hard are punished because of the actions of their cheating peers. It's also legally questionable and could put the student in a position to take legal action against a teacher
Guys I can’t keep doing this independently. I need a job. If you know of a place—advocacy, OSINT org, think tank, left media, etc—where I could take this work in-house, pls let me know. I admire the folks making independent work for them, but I am collapsing under the weight and the lack of impact.
A few minutes ago, two ICE flights operated by Journey Aviation landed in Eswatini, likely another third-country removal of immigrants to a maximum security prison there. Nineteen people have already been sent there on previous ICE flights in the last nine months. Only two have been released.
@mitsuhiko.at the page pi.dev/models isn't working for me - not sure if it's just me though
I run/participate in multiple groups in Berlin, the knitting group has a pessimistic outlook on LLMs, the book clubs I take part in talk about it as "normal tech", the homeless help I help at has people frequently changing - but the people that help tend to treat it as useful tech, we often have
Thinking it over, one possibility is that usage grew so rapidly, what I'm experiencing is just a hyper-speed shift from the dorky initial user stage to general use. It happened in 2-3 years, whereas the Internet took something like 10.
Heads up Svelte / npmx / atproto friends in Berlin (or those coming to @localfirstconf.com) - there will be a crossover meetup hosted by @willow.sh @patak.cat @jensroemer.com @flo-bit.dev, me and others on 2026-07-15 Sign up here: guild.host/events/atpro...

Making amped. Spec knowledge amped. Knowing what’s good UX amped. Deployment amped. Service integration amped. Freelancing still hard. Blogging still hard. Designing still hard. I hear you, and agree, but also, feels like normal recurring industry change
@xkcd.com not sure if you're active here – If I put a bit of lava atop a skyscraper, how many floors would it dig a hole onto before it stops?
Germans have, Germans work the least amongst OECD countries en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of... idk how though, the average german life quality is pretty high.

So, there's this story that gets told about Keynes' prediction that we'd by now have a 15 hour work week. In short, that he was right about productivity creating a vast surplus, but totally wrong about what we'd do with it. Work weeks shrank slightly, but we vastly increased consumption.
don't forget that there are droves of folks that care and are building towards a better future for everyone, but our comms tools are constantly bombarding us with the worse of humanity instead of celebrating them
Early this morning, we received an email from @namecheap.com that the domain neocities.org was being suspended because of a court order from New Delhi, India (a jurisdiction we don't operate in), which was for an unrelated court order about a sports streaming site on a different domain.
