Ultimately I think the better questions are a) what do the people who live there want? and b) will we just be allowing more imperialism by giving a county that is already forcibly occupying another country more territory?
I think that I once opined that there isn't anything analogous in U.S. history to the inter service rivalries in Japan. But I've also said that the current administration is more comparable to Imperial Japan than other Quasi-Totalitarian States. cc: @sharonk.bsky.social @aelkus.bsky.social

I think the question of "Would Native Americans have been better off without the American Revolution?" is a complicated one, because it is completely true that London usually preferred to limit expansionary policies in favor of stability in the colonies, but also that they usually *failed* to do so.
