All the Fidel fluffing by DSA is egregious. You don't ever gotta hand it to dictators. Also, Rubio is not trying to destroy the Cuban people *as a people.* Not every war crime is a genocide. But the actual meat and potatoes of this DSA statement seems on target? www.dsausa.org/statements/d...

The article explicitly says they aren't naming any of the books. And then the secondhand book seller goes on to talk about "sentimental value." Which is how you know that these are the unwanted books that clog the backrooms of any secondhand bookshop.

I'm not going to pretend the US isn't partly at fault for everything that happened in Korea post-1945, but it's important to note that no one in Korea knew who the fuck Kim Il Sung was. But the Soviets needed one of there's and so today his grandkid leads the only communist absolute monarchy. 🤷‍♂️

i'm sorry, my copy must be missing some pages, is this really the entirety of the DSA's foreign policy platform? program.dsausa.org cause "unilateral US withdrawal worldwide", israel/palestine, no sanctions [lol], and abolish ice (Which is not FP) is, uh, remarkably short...

I think it's also important for libs (like myself) who oppose the DSA to say clearly what they would need to do become an accepted part of the coalition. For my part, the main thing is having a foreign policy consonant with the values of a humanist internationalism.

I'm talking about the org and why I do not support it or its efforts to gain influence within the party. I hear quite a lot from DSA people confused or offended that liberals take this stance, so it is worth elucidating.

Honestly, beyond his first term, FDR wasn't all that revolutionary. After the Court Packing scheme, a lot of his biggest initiatives were dismantled by the Conservative court, and for the rest of his presidency he was more or less a normie lib whom most of his modern base would view like Biden tbh.

I don't want to put the OP on blast, but I keep seeing claims like this and they seem a bit ahistorical? FDR was not politically a socialist and his New Deal, which certainly had some things that socialists might approve, could arguably be considered acceptable within a capitalist framework.

One of the craziest rabbitholes I went down this summer was just how much US cold war plans for WW3 with the soviets was based on the memoirs of Hitler's old generals, right down to the latters racist assumptions and copes. Boys literally thought it would be WW2 human waves in 1985 😭

A likely outcome of an arms embargo on Israel is that they just switch to dropping unguided bombs on Gaza, killing even more people there & the response to pointing that out is often "at least we won't be responsible" & no! It's a direct consequence of the actions you took! That's responsibility!
