History and Politics guy. "Wherever there is a human being, I see God-given rights inherent in that being, whatever may be the sex or complexion." -William Lloyd Garrison Currently Reading "Korea: A new history of North and South" by Victor Cha.

The article explicitly says they aren't naming any of the books. And then the secondhand book seller goes on to talk about "sentimental value." Which is how you know that these are the unwanted books that clog the backrooms of any secondhand bookshop.

SCOOP: 404 Media placed a tracking device in a shipment of rare books to see which AI company was buying it. What did we find? It ended up at an Amazon facility where Amazon scans and destroys books. Yes. This is literally the logo outside the Amazon warehouse door. Read now:

Democracy is not for private profit. Citizens aren't chattel. Jobs? Eliminate or pay nothing. Health care? So much easier if you'd quickly die. Education? We don't need people who think. The planet? It's ours to pillage & profit. Elections? It doesn't matter who votes, just who counts the votes.

i'm sorry, my copy must be missing some pages, is this really the entirety of the DSA's foreign policy platform? program.dsausa.org cause "unilateral US withdrawal worldwide", israel/palestine, no sanctions [lol], and abolish ice (Which is not FP) is, uh, remarkably short...

screenshot of the DSA's foreign policy platform:

END THE U.S. WAR MACHINE

Defund the Department of War. End all foreign wars and close overseas military bases. Support and fully employ veterans. End immunity for U.S. war criminals and support the International Criminal Court's mandate to prosecute war crimes.
FREE PALESTINE

Recognize the rights of the Palestinian people, including the right of return, the right to resist military occupation, and the right to self determination in a free Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital. End all military and economic aid to Israel. Prosecute U.S. and Israeli leaders responsible for the genocide in Gaza.
END BLOCKADES, EMBARGOES, AND SANCTIONS

People around the world deserve to live their lives without U.S. interference. End economic warfare against countries whose governments act independently of the United States, such as Cuba, Venezuela, and Iran.
ABOLISH ICE

End ICE detention and deportations and punish federal agents' brutality. Legalize migration, grant amnesty for all immigrants regardless of status, provide a path to citizenship for all permanent residents, and end visa

I think it's also important for libs (like myself) who oppose the DSA to say clearly what they would need to do become an accepted part of the coalition. For my part, the main thing is having a foreign policy consonant with the values of a humanist internationalism.

I'm talking about the org and why I do not support it or its efforts to gain influence within the party. I hear quite a lot from DSA people confused or offended that liberals take this stance, so it is worth elucidating.

Honestly, beyond his first term, FDR wasn't all that revolutionary. After the Court Packing scheme, a lot of his biggest initiatives were dismantled by the Conservative court, and for the rest of his presidency he was more or less a normie lib whom most of his modern base would view like Biden tbh.

I don't want to put the OP on blast, but I keep seeing claims like this and they seem a bit ahistorical? FDR was not politically a socialist and his New Deal, which certainly had some things that socialists might approve, could arguably be considered acceptable within a capitalist framework.

Honestly, if I could edit at all or even WANTED to make youtube videos, I totally would do some on the USS Pueblo and Korean Axe Murder incident, because those, particularly the second, are some crazy shit that got really memoryholed over here in Yankistan.

1968 is understandably remembered more for the drama surrounding Vietnam and the Presidential election, but between the Pueblo incident and the DPRK’s attempted raid on Blue House to assassinate Park, big year for Korea too

Pocan: "I know you're a Christian nationalist by declaration." Vought: "This is the second year in a row that you've used that slander." Pocan: "You wrote an article called 'Is There Anything Actually Wrong With Christian Nationalism?' And now you're saying it's a slander?"
