Which will Trump be able to open sooner, the Reflecting Pool or the Strait of Hormuz?

Buttigieg: We sit in a in a country that's got the wrong number of people on the Supreme Court, possibly the wrong number of representatives in the House of Representatives. And by the way, when you consider the disenfranchisement of the people of DC, we have the wrong number of states in the US
Put wind or solar on the land that grows ethanol corn. Run electric vehicles off the power. Use 99% less land per mile driven, at far lower cost. Let farmers use the freed-up land to do actual farmer stuff, like growing real food for humans and being good custodians of land for future generations.
Also E15 cost savings are an illusion. Yes E15 currently costs less per gallon at the pump but 1) it’s less energy dense so cars don’t go as far per gallon & 2) it’s more corrosive so gas stations would have to upgrade tanks/pumps & would likely pass on costs to consumers, raising prices at the pump
The triumphal arch that Donald Trump wants to build across from the Lincoln Memorial would pervert the significance of a uniquely meaningful place, Sebastian Smee argues. theatln.tc/ZBNdWAOL
crazy that under the precedent set by callais, a lily-white congressional delegation formed by "partisan" gerrymandering in a plurality black state passes constitutional muster, while any majority-minority district is constitutionally suspect

Of course Ukraine’s strikes on Russian energy infrastructure in the Moscow region are entirely justified. Russia has aggressively bombed Ukraine for years, including many purely civilian targets. Ukraine hitting an oil refinery, which fuels Russia’s war machine, is justified self-defense. Easily.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine’s latest long-range drone strikes that killed three in the Moscow region and struck a major oil refinery on Sunday were “entirely justified” after Russia’s deadly record aerial attack on Kyiv earlier this week. www.ft.com/content/c7e9...
The abolitionists understood that no one can be free until everyone is free. Similarly, no people can be free, and no rights can endure, on a planet that is not habitable for human life. Our collective destinies are wrapped together.
What Abolition Can Teach Us About a Habitable Planet
Moral clarity, a financial system designed to look the other way, and a grand vision of the future are required to stabilize the climate.

In 1994, a man crashed his small plane into the White House. Clinton did not build a ballroom because of it. In fact he barely mentioned it. And he definitely did not say that no one can criticize him anymore.
“There is nothing that can be done about the millions of preventable deaths resulting from the closure of USAID until 2029” is neither scientifically true nor politically true. It is a policy choice, and the values it reflects are why USAID could be cut down so easily in the first place

Trump says he needs another $200,000,000,000 for his war. Not for health care. Not for housing. Not for education. Instead, he's asking every family to chip in $1,400 to keep bombing Iran.
Looking forward to hearing a live speech today from @nicholasgrossman.bsky.social at No Kings 3 in Urbana, IL! STOP THE WAR! DEFUND ICE! IMPEACH TRUMP!
Earnestness is the counter to this awful historical moment. It’s the way out. Unabashedly caring about others, about community and ideas, speaking the truth, standing for values. People want to believe in something more than a group sneer that looks down at others. @aselrod.bsky.social nails it.
Cringe is Good, Earnestness is Strength

It’s so easy to go from the No War president to the regime-change war president. Especially if you’re the Board of Peace chair.
I'm begging my fellow politicians, Illinoisans, and Americans to realize that right now, we aren't fighting over policy or political party. We're fighting over whether we're going to be a country rooted in empathy and kindness — or one rooted in cruelty and rage.
Walked out of the State of the Union because I couldn’t sit through hours of Trump’s lies. Americans know the truth: he’s spiking prices and wrecking our economy. We’re a better country than this.
Today marks the fourth anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Since 2022, the conflict has been shaped by Zelenskyy's bravery in the face of Russian aggression and Putin's intentional targeting of Ukraine's civilian population. My latest in MSNOW, www.ms.now/news/trump-u...

Today marks four years since Russia invaded Ukraine. These are some thoughts (recorded yesterday) on what Ukrainians have done for all of us and what we can learn from them.
The US is weaker due to Trump, but is it more feared? Democracies and traditional US allies are more afraid of America, that’s true (though I don’t know why it’d be good). Russia is clearly less afraid of the US now. So is North Korea. China seems practically giddy at the US throwing allies away.
