It is meant to be bad, we know. The caption on Instagram (I put the link in the ALT text) says it was written by a “Lawrence Person.” That first name reads like a man. C’mon, do we really think this was written by a guy?🤔😂 #booksky #writingcommunity #5amWritersClub

There was a murder here in Dartmouth on Tuesday. Police say it was an “isolated" event. A British local man was arrested. (I know exactly where the officer in this BBC pic below is standing.) Murder in the UK is VERY rare. It is so rare that when one happens it makes the *national* news:
Murder arrest after woman found dead in Dartmouth
A local man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

And Colin from Portsmouth just called Burnham a “raging communist.” Does that make Paddington Bear a “communist” then?

Kemi Badenoch labels Andy Burnham a 'Paddington Bear Prime Minister'. What is that even supposed to mean?
Nebraska Democratic party: "No American president should talk about American cities being wiped out as a rally applause line, and no one who calls himself a patriot should stand next to him while he does it. Pete Ricketts and Jim Pillen did"
How do I know Hegseth’s order to deny access to bases to members of Congress is about a cover up, not about safety? Because I asked for a military briefing at the embassy as a substitute and was told the policy prohibited military leaders in the region from even talking to me.
Obviously thinking he is just juicing up his neo-Confederate supporters into imagining lots of dead urban brown people they loathe and fear, the felonious meatball has here plainly forgotten he is also calling for the nuclear annihilation of a large part of the U.S. Navy:

In what looked like an unscripted moment during his speech in Nebraska Trump said it would be a small price to pay if Iran took out Los Angeles or San Diego before promising the crowd he would get gas prices down.
Definitely you never know. Seeing this just led me to remember that time I found out I’d been read in a (women friends) reading club in Lebanon.🇱🇧😁 Since then, I write thinking *anyone* *anywhere* could end up with one or more of my books.😂 #WritingCommunity #5amWritersClub #Booksky
One thing I've had to learn in the indie scene is that you can't decide who reads your books. You end up with fans who aren't what you expect. This can be good and bad. Good if they dig your stories from a different perspective. Bad if they try to co-opt those stories for their own world view.
I just read yet another downer blog post. Authors bellyaching online about no sales, rejections, etc., doesn't cause me as a possible reader to want to buy. I wonder instead if it's a waste of money. Hemingway vented in letters, not publicly. To rant, drop a pal an email. #WritingCommunity #BookSky
This is him actually behaving like a politician looking for votes. He knows some of his bedrock support remains among millions of white retirees. Many of us are related to one or more. Their worldview is simple: Screw everyone else… but don’t you dare f-cking touch my Medicare or my Social Security.
In which I explain (away) the incriminating photo of me with...President Nixon.
Bill Kristol: "Authoritarian governments and authoritarian movements...rewrite history, and they do so for a reason. They want to legitim[ize] what they're doing now, make it not extraordinary."
Trump’s intended audience for this is never foreigners; the meatball does not give a damn what foreigners think. Nor is it for opposition Americans. This is “red meat” for neo-Confederate cultists who rarely leave their rural county in “Tennessee” and believe everything he says and he knows that.
Yesterday Trump claimed the U.S. was a laughing stock prior to him getting elected. Now, Trump claims they don't laugh at the U.S. anymore. Dear Donald, I respectfully wish to announce that we ARE still laughing at you and your band of incompetent boobs. Signed, Citizens of Canada
Funny this, considering he adores Bobby Lee, Stonewall Jackson, A.P. Hill, and all of the other Confederate bearded “warriors.”
Pete Hegseth needs impeached. Obsessing about beards while losing a war
I still have VOA (Voice of America) saved on my internet “radio.” Americans at home may not realize what was illegally destroyed by Trump’s regime: VOA was founded in 1942 to fight fascist propaganda and ACCURATELY report what we are to millions who may never visit the US. Now, they hear silence.
As I understood it, felon Trump was looking to strip the mail-in vote from civilians living abroad, but not from active duty military based abroad. The former tending historically to lean more Democratic, while the latter have leaned Republican, of course probably had nothing to do with it.
😂😂😂 Says the 34x felon who has tried to grave rob and affix his name to “The John F Kennedy *MEMORIAL* Center for the Performing Arts” and who has bulldozed the East Wing. Every president does the Oval Office as they wish. The all had better taste than 3rd-rate bankrupt Atlantic City casino.
President Donald Trump wants the Oval Office declared a federal landmark so no one can take down the gilded accents he’s affixed to the walls.
I’d be a bit more specific and call it a “neo-Confederate” problem.
America doesn’t have a polarization problem America has a right-wing extremism problem
Definitely. Especially given Dan Quayle has spent his entire life since 1992 just re-spelling “potato,” and did not accuse the kid who spelled it correctly on the blackboard of committing perjury.
this gaffe should follow Eric Schmitt around for the rest of his political life (Jack Smith was actually in Maryland at a HAWKEYES game, not in Atlanta colluding with Fani Willis as Schmitt alleged) (Win McNamee/Getty)
Excited to see how the Atlanta Hawkeyes do this year and whatnot.
When I last received a new passport via the London embassy, it came by embassy courier, was delivered to my front door, and I had to sign for it personally. Instead of spending 24/7 negotiating peace everywhere, this is what this Thomas Jefferson successor is reduced to. Talk about "undignified."
I love that the U.S. government now has ideas so dumb that the fact checks are simply “yeah this isn’t a parody, it’s real”
So presumably Utah "Republican" Senator Mike Lee would have no problem, then, if we, say, also bulldozed the Brigham Young Historical Park and demolished its memorials?
I'm positive that if a Democrat mixed up the Atlanta Hawks and the Iowa Hawkeyes we'd never hear the end of how they're lame and un-American for not knowing anything about sports.
Actually, they were in Europe this summer in bigger numbers than ever. The jump in Americans’ travel here may have been partly about getting away from *him* briefly. But seeing our allies in person can counteract MAGA/Fox propaganda and may also be spurring a desire for changes at home.
I think bc so many Americans don’t travel to other wealthy western countries they don’t know that life doesn’t need to be so hard It’s chosen when republicans are voted in
If a sentence in your newscast starts with “President Trump says…” you’re failing your audience.
Sulla? Marius? They were also great (and brutal) soldiers. Trump will not be on foot, waving a sword over his head, leading U.S. legions into Tehran. Trump is closer to Crassus - thieving rich guy, militarily arrogant, captured by the Persians who killed him by pouring liquid gold into his mouth.
"Trump [may] belong [to] the era of Marius and Sulla, the men who brought force and corruption into Roman politics on a scale nobody had yet seen...If America ends up an autocracy, Trump will not be its culmination but something closer to its forerunner." open.substack.com/pub/theunpop...
When they don't have actual evidence (yet) of actual terrorist intent?
The fuck? Since when do people who are accused of actual terrorism get out on bail?
Vaughn Meader could brilliantly do JFK, Phil Hartman similarly Reagan, and so many other comedians have well-done all other presidents. Maybe it’s my personal taste, but I can’t say I have ever found any Trump impressionist to be truly satirical/funny. It is not the comedians’ fault, though…
SNL cold open was pretty funny
