Indie movie SUNNY DANCER tries to pull off a rom-com at a summer camp for teens in cancer remission. It could be dark, reckless fun but it falls back on all the cliches even ending with a crappy talent show. Credit to JAMES BLUNT for being a good sport. All the actors deserve a better script.

EVIL DEAD BURN is such a beautifully shot film, with imaginative gore & a strong original take on family horror. I think it’s a shame that the weakest bits - the occult book & magic knife - are the gubbins the franchise demands. Sébastien Vanicek did a great job!

I nearly walked out of tonight’s SECRET SCREENING at Showcase cinema. THE INVITE shows a stressful dinner party with two mismatched couples. I’m glad I stayed as this comedy does have something to say about relationships. PENELOPE CRUZ is pretty wonderful as a straight talking sex therapist!
