I don’t think it’s the best idea to be an elected official lining up behind the status quo in this environment, whether locally or nationally.
The amount of AI slop in my Instagram feed is rendering the app unusable.
The Fauci hearing perfectly illustrated how living through a once in a century pandemic somehow made Republicans far worse on public health. God forbid we face anything like covid again during Trump 2.0. There will be no Dr Fauci around to try to talk sense to Trump.
Plaxico Burress compared playing with the Jets to prison: "They're both kind of similar because when I walked into prison on my first day, I was like, 'damn man you a fucking loser.' And I had the same damn feeling every day I walked through the door with the Jets."
An extremely niche post but I find it strange that the Roche Bros in West Roxbury has seltzer water in one aisle and sparkling water in a separate aisle on the complete other side of the store. Are they that different to justify such separation? 1/2
the thing about having actual principles is that when a politician I respect does some stupid shit I can just be like, “that sucks, knock it off” instead of inventing an imaginary world where I’m forced to defend stupid shit for procedural 4d chess reasons
Getting attached to individual politicians as people is kinda batshit behavior even under the best of circumstances but it's especially insane in The United States where there's an enormous amount of randomness and path dependency in terms of who gets into these high level elected offices.
We need to stop acting like bike infra is a luxury that should be up for debate and start treating it like the public safety and public health infra it is.

Cycling infrastructure saves lives - The Coast | News, events, restaurants, concerts and Burger Week for Halifax, Nova Scotia
When I opened Instagram on Monday night and saw the screenshot saying that a person cycling had been killed in Halifax, I felt deeply sad, but I was also angry. Many people I know and care about have ...

"One of the most expensive commodities in Massachusetts, land, is needed in enormous amounts for every single home that we built... A duplex shouldn't require an act of god or a miracle before the zoning board of appeals to get built." - State Senator @juliancyr.bsky.social
not really surprised to learn that terminal stupidity and racism is the reason i can’t walk into a CVS and just buy a toothbrush without flagging down the one person who might be in the store dannykatch.substack.com/p/we-used-to...

Another good reason to love cities: despots hate them.

Reporter: Isn’t there concern that this slippery slope to socialism inevitably ends up as full-blown communism? AOC: They want to call everything they don’t like communist because if people actually wake up to the fact that their elected officials are screwing them over when they get here

The idea that the wealthy, the middle class, and the poor are all in completely separate housing markets with no overlap ignores how things work in the real world. In the absence of new high end housing, wealthy people outbid the middle class for the best available existing housing and renovate it.
New MR housing flattens or marginally lowers cost of housing for people in mainstream market, i.e mid-class & some working class people. Which is good. But we shouldnt pretend it meaningfully helps the poor or homeless. They are not competing in the same mainstream market w/ rich or even mid-class.

Pool report from @svdate.bsky.social, who is at the World Cup ceremony: "The president walked onto the field at 1826 to a sustained chorus of boos. Ambient crowd noise was about 78 decibels. Booing brought it to 84."
Folks complaining the actors in The Odyssey don't look Ancient Greek are oddly nostalgic for the era when John Wayne was apparently the most qualified Mongolian on Earth.

Unjustified war of choice spreading throughout the Middle East brought to you by Donald Trump and the GOP.
When Trump loses, the system is rigged. When he wins, nothing to see here! The depth of the stupidity is something to behold.
Today we painted Louisa’s Ghost Bike. It used to be Jessica Mink’s bike. Since 2015, I’ve created about 30 ghost bikes, but this one was the hardest to make so far. I couldn’t have done it without my best friend and brother Galen Mook. We Need Each Other. #NoMoreGhostBikes
