I was Rochelle on the bird app. Now I'm Rochelle over here. Things I'm into: Judaism, pasta, EDM, daf yomi, non-fiction books, plants, Italian language, local history, old stuff. PNW 🌱 🍄 🌈 🧿 🇮🇹
The next few days are going to be ROUGH.
The 00z HRRR is fresh off the press. Widespread dense surface smoke possible throughout the day tomorrow and into Wednesday. Small switches in wind direction will matter big time for how much smoke we get. #wawx #smoke
I had an idea today: instead of hospital gowns, they should have hospital skirts for when the doctor needs to see only your legs.
I have to get fasting blood work done tomorrow and my dumbass scheduled the appointment for 3pm not realizing it would include this blood work. Tomorrow is going to be GREAT.
Our flight from Seattle to Sacramento was delayed by a few hours last night, but we were rewarded with an epic sunset on Tahoma (Rainier) as it poked through the low stratus layer. The pastel peach backdrop was made possible by the horrific wildfire smoke from all the PNW fires.
Yes, absolutely. And I *still* read reference books for fun.
Were you a child who read The World Book Encyclopedia for fun?
Everyone is (rightfully) upset with Ken Jennings today but did you also all forget that he defended Bean Dad?
Heads up!! If you live in the White Swan area near Yakima that was affected by wildfires, you need to know this! Your ballot may have been burned as well and you will need to contact Yakima County Elections for help getting a new one.
I lifted up my laundry basket this morning and tweaked my back. Currently miserable with stabbing pain. I guess I'm old now. 👵
If every life has equal value, every loss deserves equal mourning. My latest column examines why Seattle rallies after some tragedies but too often looks away when violence strikes Rainier Beach, Hillman City, Brighton, and other South Seattle neighborhoods.
COLUMN | Gun Violence Didn't Move to Seattle Center. Our Attention Did.
Seattle rallied when gun violence struck its "civic living room." Marcus Harrison Green asks why South End deaths have so rarely received the same urgency.

I bet it had all the preservatives in it. All of them.
Pillsbury Sliced Bread (1997-2005): The stalwart baking mix brand decided to dip their toes into the sliced bread sector with this line, which included such varieties as White, Wheat, Honey White, Buttermilk, and Homestyle White
A local place posted an AI ad on IG for an event. They must have gotten negative feedback because they posted a pen-and-paper drawing for the same event saying that the community seems to prefer that over the AI. I thought it was a win, but the next week they were back to the AI crap.
Seeing every small business, be it a local restaurant, a moving company, whatever, all having AI logos and AI ads, really puts into perspective just how many artists are out of jobs now. All those little sustaining jobs where someone just needed a quick thing for $50 to $200 are just gone.
Happy Tu b'Av! Also known as the Flower Dance festival in Stardew Valley.
*huge crash* *silence* "Hey mom, what would happen if we knocked over your big plant onto the carpet?"
The Seattle World's Fair site, now known as Seattle Center, probably 1962. The Space Needle stands in the center. At far right is Elliot Bay and in the background is Mount Rainier. digitalarchives.wa.gov/Record/View/...
I can’t believe bean dad was only 6 months ago

Can't wait for therapy tomorrow where I can correct one minor thing I misspoke about two weeks ago which I haven't stopped thinking about since it came out of my mouth then.
Look, it's the Colossus computer at Bletchley Park. This was fairly amazing

Hey, this is why I lost my transcriptionist work too! Thanks, AI.
I was a transcriptionist for 40 years. I was replaced by AI last December. I was offered a chance to correct the errors made by AI at half the pay, but I've seen the mistakes it makes in transcripts. It would have taken longer than transcribing them myself would have.
I found the documents from when the Freemasons fingerprinted me as a child so my body could be identified after I was kidnapped.
