There’s been a significant pollution incident on the Tolka river. Grey brown effluent in the water and brown scum on the surface. I took these pics in the section between Blanch and Corduff but hearing there are dead fish in the river closer to Damastown.

Last night on Primetime, I discussed water quality in Ireland, and how ultimately, there is no central political responsibility for it.

Last night @rodericogorman.bsky.social was on Primetime about the deterioration in our water quality. We need access to clean water, not just for our health, but also because water is such a huge part of our economy, our biodiversity and increasingly our wellness and leisure. #speirgorm

The plans for a new suburb in Dunsink need to include adequate transport connections from the outset - not decades later. The proposed Luas extension plans would also serve the areas of Tyrrelstown, Hollywoodrath and Mulhuddart, where public transport has not kept up pace with population growth.

📉The Taxsaver Commuter Scheme is seeing a decline in its uptake - what can we do to improve it? Built around a 5-day, fixed-routine commute, it not longer suits hybrid working or flexible travel patterns, and we have seen a drop in uptake of the scheme from 60k users in 2019 to just 25k today (1/3)

Today, the Govt will use its majority in the Dáil to force the adoption of a watered down Occupied Territories Bill, which is knowingly and intentionally inconsistent with our obligations under intl. law. This is a political decision by the Government, dictated by fear of the Trump administration.

I questioned Minister Seán Canney last week at the Oireachtas Transport Committee about the bizarre decision to disconnect RTI displays from the public lighting network. It was news to him too - I'll be following up with him to get a proper answer on this 🤔

⚡If we are serious about battery storage and build now, 2 GW of storage could be available in Ireland by the early 2030s, saving us a minimum of €100 million in wasted energy, reducing carbon emissions, while also improving our energy security.

Hundreds of men were prosecuted over the decades in Ireland, solely for being gay. As we celebrate this Pride Weekend, it's important that we try to deliver justice for these individuals too. The Disregard of Historic Offences for Consensual Sexual Activity Between Men Bill aims to do this 👇

Over the last 6 months the Oir. Transport Committee has met on the topic of Road Safety, hearing from groups as diverse as cyclists and road hauliers. One common finding from these hearings is a complete lack of confidence in the Road Safety Authority to fulfil their central mission to save lives.

🚍Will the N8 Blanchardstown - Dublin Airport bus service be delivered by the end of the year? Darragh O'Brien seemed less certain last week in the Dáil on this - and bizarrely keeps referring to funding as why it might not be delivered for then, despite the fact that he is responsible for it!

🏬Up to 18,500 homes and a New City Quarter on Dunsink Lands Fingal County Council has published the draft Dunsink Urban Area Plan for the development of this strategic piece of land within the M50. The plan will create eight new development areas; 🌳2 large natural parks 🏘️3 residential areas (1/4)
