The Irish Language Commissioner, says that there are serious delays to the delivery of public services in Irish. We have a new generation of Irish speakers because of Gaelscoileanna over the last 20 years and other cultural reasons so there is a pool of young graduates who could be recruited from.

Thanks to the Cork Independent for highlighting this issue. Since 2022, Cork City Council has written off over €15.5 million in commercial rates through vacancy relief. I've asked the Council to bring forward options to reform this scheme ahead of Budget 2027.

Something that we were really pleased to see while we were in Government was the free schoolbooks scheme But we know that many schools are insisting that students have laptops and tablets. Along with uniforms, voluntary contributions and other costs, that puts a lot of pressure on many parents.

e-scooters marketed at 6 year olds? No thanks! We need to tackle illegal e-scooters at the point of sale instead of trying to play catch-up once they're on the road. The law says it's illegal for anyone under 16 to use them on public roads and that they should be limited to 20km/h.
