What’s DSA’s stance on Quebecois sovereignty?
The socialists refusing to partake in the left-of-centre primary is possibly the worst thing to happen in this campaign since Le Pen was let back in. Pretty much locks a serious left-wing candidate out of the second round.
France: Member of European Parliament Raphaël Glucksmann (PP-S&D) just made his bid for the 2027 presidential election official. He is running in the centre-left primary. Explore: https://europeelects.eu/2026/06/02/presidential-election-in-france-2027/
This sort of thing always annoys me. If groups with bad or foolish beliefs should not be taken seriously or campaigned for, why does anyone support the Democratic Party, where a majority of its electeds voted for the Iraq War, the Afghanistan War, and to assist in the genocide of Palestinians?
They don't seem very committed to the "democratic" part.

Jake Lang getting his Nazi ass beaten by Spider-Man in Minneapolis today is the ray of sunshine I needed.
Apparently Spider-Man showed up to punch Jake Lang at an anti-muslim rally in Minnesota. News reports claim that both Spidey and Lang were arrested.
"Sir, a third Dan Sullivan has just hit the Alaska Senate race"
NEWS — Former Anchorage Mayor Dan A. Sullivan has endorsed Alaska Sen. Dan S. Sullivan for re-election this fall over teacher Dan J. Sullivan and former Rep. Mary Peltola, according to a post on his Facebook page.
I also find this fascinating from the perspective that, like, the entire Scottish political arena uses UK far, far more than it does Britain? Like we are always talking about "the UK Government" and "being part of the UK", it's so fascinating how the BRITAIN AND BRITISHNESS people are so... English
You’d think a historian would be more intellectually curious, wouldn’t you?
The mild distaste I have for Quebec politics leaving my body when I found out Trump threatened Quebec culture and the French language during trade negotiations
I don't want to hear a single so-called Marxist whining about how these tariffs are going to hurt American workers. What did you think revolutionary defeatism was all about? Vibes? Essays?
For over a year, Canada has worked intensively and in good faith with the United States to negotiate a new comprehensive trade deal. We have been pragmatic, patient, and persistent. Our goal has always been to get the best deal for Canadians, never a deal at any price or on any time frame.
American politics is like if you're trapped in a room slowly filling with blood but the person next to you is screaming about how the world would end if every bug was a banana
One of the reasons why I oppose compulsory voting is that it results in people coming out and voting for anti-system candidates which generally helps the far-right such as Chile and Australia.
Jasmine Crockett: “I’m not gonna campaign for Jim Crow Talarico after the primary. Black people ain’t excited for him!” Meanwhile Alex Vindman and Haley Stevens with the Democratic Senate nominees in their states:
You silly urbanites don’t understand where food comes from! Farmers feed you all! That’s why they consistently vote for more floods and droughts year after year!
"America is the richest country in the world but if you eat the food there, you fucking die"

The (near) rise of a five party system in Britain only happening because of Starmer's incompetence is actually pretty funny ngl. Real indictment of him as a PM.

I don't know who on this site needs to hear this, but it's entirely possible to just not like someone. You don't actually have to write elaborate real-person fics about internet strangers to morally justify your beef with them.
This is just nonsense put forward without evidence. Working class voters living in diverse areas with high rates of immigration tend to be…. More liberal on migration. The differential isn’t class it’s exposure/location and age!
Reading stuff like this paragraph makes me wonder what planet the author lives on, because here on Earth the Labour Party never shuts up about how we immigrants are apparently the cause of every problem in the UK. "Unfettered immigration" 🚩🚩🚩 "Thinkers such as [...] Maurice Glasman" LOL
but not all is lost. we just have to hope that alexandria ocasio-cortez (harry potter), masoud pezeshkian (ron weasley) and mark carney (hermione granger) can restore sanity in an increasingly divided world
