reached the point in my life where I genuinely have long conversations with my cat about literally nothing lol

having some cider as my brain needs to calm the fuck down today.
till Burnham; 1) ends support for illegal wars overseas and genocide. 2) ends the persecution of trans people in the UK. 3) ends all welfare cuts. 4) ends the mass arrests of peaceful protesters. 5) actually invests in public services rather than just vague allusions. he gets nothing from me.

ending neo-liberalism by; - supporting illegal wars for vested interests - jailing peaceful protesters - persecution of minorities - more fossil fuel burning - more cuts to welfare & services to fund said wars - watering down climate change targets y'all fell for the oldest trick in the book.
In other news, Labour plan to water down net zero targets.
We need to act now.
this is probably in no small part because political corruption is so rife in the UK that people just take is a given at this point, it's all well and good to talk about Reform being corrupt (which they are) but when you then pivot to defending corruption from Labour/Tory politicians...
More evidence that Reform voters are not like other people in the UK. Show them some potential corruption and they’re all in.
If your politics require children to die quietly overseas so stock prices stay calm, your politics are garbage.
It's been an absolute honour to visit Clacton fewer times than I've visited America, hold zero surgeries and do fuck all for the town.
Direct, full-time jobs opening Rosebank oilfield would create: 450 D, f-t jobs opening Jackdaw gasfield would create: 27 D, f-t jobs in UK's net-zero economy: 300,000 + 400,000 more on the way D, f-t jobs in the rest of the green economy: 600,000 Is that really the hill Burnham wants to die on?
Crop yields down, our countryside scorched and over 2800 people are dead due to this summer's heatwaves. Meanwhile fossil fuel giants are raking in record profits. We must end this rampant profiteering, and cut fossil fuels from our energy mix as soon as possible.
BP profits more than double to $5.7bn in three months as Iran war sends oil prices soaring - "While BP banks enormous profits, millions of households are paying the price" #energycrisis #climatecrisis www.theguardian.com/business/202...
the number of new safe routes actually announced by Andy Burnham btw is 0. despite the "progressives" focusing on that part of his spiel rather than the continuation of the worse than hostile environment enacted by Cooper then Mahmood.
really not sure it helps the cause to claim a conspiracy when no evidence of one exists tbh.
The next time a climate change denier comes at you with that excuse:
As Rod Liddle has died, I notice this column I wrote in 2019 about his attacks on people with M.E. is on the most read again. Rebekah Brooks, of News UK, described Liddle today as “provocative”. In reality, he spread lies about very sick people for cash. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Rod Liddle vilifies disabled people. I’m tired of the hate. We all should be | Frances Ryan
Whether it is ME patients or another target, huge swathes of the media have normalised hatred of minorities for years, says Guardian columnist Frances Ryan

I always put Rod Liddle in a group of right wing commentators whose names sound like dick jokes, so I reckon that Richard Littlejohn and James Delingpole are probably hoping they’re not next on the reaper’s list.
Defender of women and girls MP laments the loss of a man who punched his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach.
Dear god
Rod Liddle was famously a piece of shit, should make disposal of his corpse easy, all they'll need is a flush.
life sure likes to mess with my head a lot, I really wish it would stop doing that.
What Burnham fans don’t realise is saying you want to reverse over 40 years of Thatcherism and actually reversing over 40 years of Thatcherism is not the same thing. I’ll sit back and wait for ‘Give him a chance’ ‘It can’t be done overnight’ and ‘14 years of Tories’ now.
Once again for those that haven’t worked it out Poverty is a political choice
Stick to spending limits, PM and chancellor tell ministers in joint memo. Cue for real cuts; continuation of potholed roads, housing crisis, NHS queues, unfit schools, privatisations? Real change not possible whilst neoliberalism remains the opium of the political class.

Burnham acknowledged that neoliberalism wasn't working for the many and a new economic approach was needed. So Healey carries on with the same made up fiscal rules, more austeriy. Its the same play with different actors.

Very disappointing from the new Prime Minister, very much sounding like the previous PM. These are among the world’s most vulnerable and desparate people. They need safe routes and humanity from responsible politicians, not grandstanding. This isn’t doing politics differently.
Andy Burnham "I will continue doing the awful policies of Starmer's administration" *independent left wing journalists* "oh wow, this guy is really different to Starmer, the Left has a real problem if it's not seeing how much better this guy is" with friends like these...
Honestly don’t know why I bother, apparently even basic communication is too much to ask for these days.
