Gunshots inside Senate. All this mayhem for one Bato Dela Rosa.
Did the ICC ever think that its biggest headache won’t be the high politics surrounding intl tribunals but… chronically online Filipinos, a meme Senator *literally* running from a warrant, an ex-senator casually presenting the *secret* warrant out of sheer pettiness, cardboard standees????
Sara Duterte impeached Senate coup, Duterte sympathetic bloc takes majority NBI confirms ICC warrant against Senator Dela Rosa Senator Dela Rosa caught on video running along Senate halls to evade ICC warrant All in a few hours What a Monday for the Philippines

New (open access) article in the European Journal of Legal Studies of EUI. It’s about Duterte but also about time, damage to time, and maybe(?) reparative attitudes towards ruptured time. Written some time back, in a different world. Full issue link: www.eui.eu/Content-Type...

The absolute whiplash experienced by Philippine "international law professors" (Bar review enthusiasts) who have cheered on international law to work last week (vs Duterte) and now publicly declaring their feelings of bewilderment over what is happening, that perhaps international law should fail.

News cycle in the Philippines has been difficult to watch lately.
Centerlaw is not yet on Bluesky, but they have shared Joel Butuyan’s opening statement in the ICC on their Facebook page. A statement that should go down in Philippine history. (1/2)
Can I show this to answer “What is the original contribution of your PhD?”
Kaufman credits Duterte for 4Ps. Kaufman calls the victim's presentation as mere politicking, no evidence. Here is data, showing how the victims of Duterte's onslaught were beneficiaries of the 4Ps. jied.lse.ac.uk/articles/10....

The lines of Joel Butuyan’s opening statement should be seared in all of our minds, in our history forevermore. This is what the ICC proceedings mean for the victims. That last boat. And he reminds us what Duterte did to all of us. To our society. To our culture.
Those Drug War years felt like hell and maybe we will never truly patch those parts of ourselves, even as we are now away. I find great comfort in what Raffy Lerma told me: “andito tayo ngayon dahil trabaho natin to.” We are here today because this is our work. May Duterte’s victims get justice.
I am not sure if Bluesky is an appropriate platform for gym progress photos AND announcement of academic things like Twitter was
