HODGES: There are reports that Russia closed border crossings with Baltics, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan. That's speculation on my part, but why would they do that unless it was to make sure people did not leave, as would be the case if they were to announce big mobilization?

Either a) Trump takes the humiliation & geopolitical loss of openly giving them the Strait, b) economy takes the hit for midterms and longer, or c) war escalates
