Today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” about a fully automated house continuing on after the family who lived there and the world around it died in a nuclear blast.

Hey so I haven’t really talked about it much but I finally started a new job! I’ll be running a tabletop game store called Play Play Asia at GMBB KL (GM1-13 on level 1) We focus exclusively on Asian tabletop games, including TTRPGs! More details as we get closer to opening.

Learning games as we set up the store - Overparked was a really fun puzzle, 108 Outlaws is exactly my kind of card combo bullshit, Buffet Boss is always cute, and Cooking Noodles is a nice thematic puzzle card game with gorgeous art.

In-progress game of Overparked.

Me: I'd like to buy 100 labels to Australia. Shopify: Okay, but I need you to review each label's customs data individually, even though they're all getting the exact same thing. Me: Sure, I did it. Buy those 100 labels. Shopify: Here are 10. Me: Okay, but buy the other 90. Shopify: No.

People who are excited to learn I work somewhere around 3/4 time in tabletop games are always disappointed to learn how much of that time is spent trying to get international shipping to fucking work.

Every time I try to get a later dinner at the neighborhood sports bar, I end up sitting uncomfortably close to a local grad student's awkward first date. Until tonight! Tonight I was uncomfortably close to both an awkward undergrad's first date and a very loud, very awkward attempted hookup.

TTRPG peeps, I'm begging you. If you release TTRPGs digitally, make sure your document file names contain the game's title (at minimum). It makes it really hard to keep track of the games I have and find the ones I'm looking for when the documents are called stuff like GAME DRAFT.pdf

The people who get paid to keep things exactly as they are have some very well meaning advice for people who want desperately needed change on how to effect that change: wait for a more convenient season. More convenient for who? hey great question—sadly we’re out of time

Hi all, I am looking for articles, posts, podcasts about: - GMless/GMfull games - worldbuilding games - the practice of hacking in TTRPGs/ LARP Note: I am not necessarily interested in specific games, but rather in pieces that talk *about* these kinds of games and practices. Links are appreciated!

Aha! This is live now so I can share it around publicly. So hi, I'm one of the two curators for MITS. If you're an independent tabletop game developer (card, board, RPG, w/e), a solo or indie publisher, or are a game student with a project to show off, we'd really like you to apply.

In the legends I'm spreading, Tony spent two weeks (possibly just six work days?) testing various packing options. For a 5.5 lb book and slipcase, only the corner protectors were going to work, and Tony found the one corner protector vendor with enough protectors to get it all out.

Shout out to @plusoneexp.bsky.social @rrookstudio.bsky.social @quinnblackwell.bsky.social and all the other great folks at +1 Exp for handling wildly bulky heavy book shipping with aplomb. Stonetop just arrived in great shape despite the box being caught out in a torrential downpour.
