Michael Rulli (R-OH) have leveled racist attacks against immigrant communities in their districts. As I note in CAMPAIGN TRAILS, a century ago those same racist attacks were being made against people named Emmer and Rulli.

Elizabeth Jacobs, PhD@elizabethjacobs.bsky.social · 4mo agoI talk about the US Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) a fair amount, but information about RFK Jr. shutting them down doesn’t seem to grab people’s attention as much as posts about vaccines, for example. That needs to change, b/c the dismantling of USPSTF is an equal if not greater threat.

You know, a President accusing a NYT reporter of committing treason just for asking a question is actually quite a big deal, and this bunch just standing there listening to it and doing nothing is not encouraging the public to think of journalism as a serious business or of words meaning anything.

The typical state university is a football team stapled to a R&D lab with a budget bigger than the entire nation of Belgium.

The National Science Foundation is the main source of funding for basic sciences in the US. For decades, they have supported a scientific R&D ecosystem in the US that has been an engine of economic growth and competitive advantage. Destroying the agency is no less than an act of sabotage.
Those of us in the pro-democracy movement can and should hold both of these positions. 1. We unequivocally reject violence. 2. We will unequivocally oppose efforts by this administration to use last night as an excuse to try to suppress criticism and criminalize dissent.
Reading the FT front page story about a Chinese company introducing a battery with a 1500 km range & six minute recharging time & about how two Chinese companies own more than half of the global EV battery market & I am struck by the different realities the US and China occupy. We’ve lost the plot.
